Sonos Notify with sound missing

So I went in to add a new sound notification for my mailbox sensor but the smart app is no longer there. Is it an issue on my end or has it been removed?

I just checked and itā€™s gone on my end as well. I am in the middle of setting up a lot of notifications and they have been working perfectly. Now Iā€™m about 9 or 10 away from being done and the app is gone. I hope this isnā€™t permanent. I just noticed on another thread I follow that the Sonos connect or possibly the notify app may be the cause of some crashing. If they removed it without warning I will be bummed. It seems to take a long time for them to fix things. Who knows when we will get it back.

yup. Looks to be missing. I do see a new app called speaker control

I see now. Speaker control has the same functionality as notify with sound.

Speaker Control only plays the current track. All the functionality of the vanished Sonos Notify With Sound, including spoken phrases, is now gone. I really need to have this back as itā€™s one of the primary purposes Iā€™ve invested so heavily in smartthings. This is very disappointing to see key functionality taken away.

For custom phrases use Big Talker.

I wouldnā€™t use custom notifications until ST brings back the official app. There is a reason why they took it down and I donā€™t think it was just an accidentā€¦

The nice thing about Big Talker is that it knows if a custom notification did not fire and it will send you a push notification if the audible notification did not work, that way you donā€™t miss the notification all together.

I had the same frustrations specially after buying the 2 gen Play 5 (by the way it is amazing) but was able to fix the problems by going into the IDE and manually publishing both the ā€œSpeaker notify me with soundā€ and ā€œWeather forecastā€ onto my Homeā€™ hub.

They now appear on my Smartapps/+my apps on my mobile and work with no problem with whatever custom message I want it to say.

Sorry to sound dumb but where do you get the code to paste into the IDE to recreate these?

For those of you who are missing the Sonos Weather announcements and want to set reminders at specific times, you may want to check out Yonomi. I stumbled on their site by checking Nest partners and my first impression is greatā€¦

Iā€™ll record a video of the steps if you guys are interested once I grey out of work.

That would be great.

Check the link below with a video instruction on how to fix the ā€œSonos notify me with sound missingā€.

Let me know how you guys do

Sergio, I literally just now installed a couple more door sensors and your solution worked like a charm. I canā€™t thank you enough. I have about 7 more to go to finish the voice stuff and couldnā€™t be happier.

Awesome thanks so much to save my day!
Now i get my dog barking again.

Thanks for the information @SergioDJ. I was also able to finish what I needed to accomplish with that work around.

Sergio thanks for the video. Iā€™m new to ST and really want to get Sonos hooked up.

I followed you steps but when I got to Install I got the following error. Any thoughts?

grails.validation.ValidationException: Validation Error(s) occurred during save():

  • Field error in object ā€˜physicalgraph.device.Deviceā€™ on field ā€˜nameā€™: rejected value [null]; codes [physicalgraph.device.Device.name.nullable.error.physicalgraph.device.Device.name,physicalgraph.device.Device.name.nullable.error.name,physicalgraph.device.Device.name.nullable.error.java.lang.String,physicalgraph.device.Device.name.nullable.error,device.name.nullable.error.physicalgraph.device.Device.name,device.name.nullable.error.name,device.name.nullable.error.java.lang.String,device.name.nullable.error,physicalgraph.device.Device.name.nullable.physicalgraph.device.Device.name,physicalgraph.device.Device.name.nullable.name,physicalgraph.device.Device.name.nullable.java.lang.String,physicalgraph.device.Device.name.nullable,device.name.nullable.physicalgraph.device.Device.name,device.name.nullable.name,device.name.nullable.java.lang.String,device.name.nullable,nullable.physicalgraph.device.Device.name,nullable.name,nullable.java.lang.String,nullable]; arguments [name, class physicalgraph.device.Device]; default message [{0} cannot be null]

Btw, I already have Sonos connected to ST and it is working.
