Sonos Custom message gone again?

What happened to the Sonos custom message? All of my Sonos notify smart apps have it gone this morning. Very frustrating I got Sonos because it was supposed to be supported for ST. Did text to speech service get hosed again?

My custom message dissappeared also. The app is still there but all the sounds reverted back to bell 1. When I look in ide it still says custom message

It appears the Sonos device was updated (no longer grey but now blue with a bit more color). However, wondering if that wiped out many of the other Sonos settings.

This is very frustrating I use A LOT OF custom messages to make the system, well…CUSTOM.
Can someone at ST please give us some feedback?
Is there a way to fix this? (I’ve already tried the ol delete smart app and reinstall)
Are you aware of the problem?
Is anyone working on it?
Sorry to sound so impatient, but this is one of the flashy “show off” pieces that people actually notice, (they could care less if I automate a pump to come on for an hour a day to water plants, or that my t-stat set points spread out when I leave my house).
Thanks in advance for helping us out !

Anyone heard why this is? Temporary or what is going on ?

Today I noticed that the custom messages is gone from the list of options in the notify with Sonos App.
I was in the process of adding a new custom message and noticed that is no longer as an available option, only the Canned messages. I have been a supporter of ST for years. I had to deal with updates and changes in versions and always looked at the bright side.

It was something simple to lose but for me, it is the LAST STRAW.

I no longer will put up with the piece of half-baked, put together the system that is UNRELIABLE at best and inconsistent ALL THE TIME.

I have invested Time and MONEY into this system and that is no longer the case.

I also recommended and INSTALLED this system in client’s homes and businesses. So I had my fair share of complaints from MY clients about how ST’s updates and quirky issues caused frustration and anger.

Today YOU just LOST A LOYAL CUSTOMER FOR GOOD.

NOW You have the opposite, an IT PROFESSIONAL that will NEVER recommend your so-called HOME AUTOMATIZATION system in BETA VERSION you should add.

Not to be dismissive, but there’s no magic in SmartThings. You can write your own Sonos or other drivers. Just as I wrote LANNouncer after getting annoyed at the lack of real outputs from SmartThings.

SmartThings is pretty bad at some stuff. Heck, I’ve had an app in “approval stage” for FIVE MONTHS with no updates. It took them three months to respond to a critical trouble-ticket. They suck really badly, except so does everyone else. But what they do give you, for $99, is multiple radio interfaces, a decent GUI, pretty good basic functionality, a decent user group and better easier expansion than any other system I can think of… and I wrote a popular plug-in for HomeSeer! It’s not that you don’t want to leave SmartThings - I bet the whole community sympathizes there - but where will you GO? From is easy, it’s finding a better “to” that’s hard.

I totally agree with your sentiment. I’ve been frustrated for a while. I looked into several options and none were any better. Nobody is ready for primetime right now. Then, when you add in the need to tear down and rebuild everything - ugh!
I’m holding out for a few things to make IOT/HA a legit, consumer experience:

  • Amazon dives in all the way. Echo is so good, even as an infant. More please.
  • Google to get moving faster with Nest/Revolv. Who’s better than Google at tying things together?
  • Apple to decide that the want to really jump in.

We are investigating this issue. Custom TTS messages were added back to the platform at the beginning of the year and definitely should be in the app today.

PR made to fix this:

Hoping for a Thursday release once we QA to make sure my changes actually work
