Anyone have any luck getting one of these to connect to Smartthings? If i add it by scanning the QR code it gets added as a zwave dimmer. If i scan for new devices it will find it, then ask for secure connection by scanning QR code or entering pin. Both ways it just sits at Processing and won’t move forward.
I use the Z-wave Smoke Alarm Mc driver. You can find it here.
Thanks for the reply. I am pretty sure that is the driver i was using for the old version of this device. That one went bad on me so i purchased the new 2025 version and there aren’t any drivers listed when i try and use another driver when it connects as a z-wave switch
Unfortunately Mariano is no longer active in the community.
The following is the list of supported fingerprints
Any luck getting these working ? I just bought two, seeing the same issue.
Open up the device tile, click on 3 dots in upper right, and tap on information. The fingerprints (manufacturers code) should be listed.
What are the fingerprints prints? And are they listed in the file attached to the previous post?
I had a moment to figure out the fingerprint(s) for the new First Alert SMCO410 and just opened a PR for the Edge driver here:
Feel free to copy that over into any other drivers (for example, Mariano’s) to get it working with the SMCO410 too.
Thank you for looking into this. I returned the new detector and ordered one of the old models because I knew that worked. Maybe I’ll order another one of the new type and give this a try. Thanks again.
there is no try, only do
This link doesn’t work. I also can’t get this to be recognized as a smoke detector.
Thanks for your tip. How do I update the the fingerprints.yml file?
Try the link in this post “SmartThings. Add a little smartness to your things”
There are about 1400 replies. I scrolled through for about 15 minutes but couldn’t find anything. Is there a more narrow result I can hone in on? Thanks…
FWIW: I can add the device, and when it asks me to complete the secure setup, I can either scan the QR code or manually type in the first 5 digits of the DSK. In either case, it just stays on “processing” and never completes. If I continue to add it without that, it gets added as a Z-Wave Sensor but the manufacturer code always comes up 0000-0000-0000. The only option I have to change the driver is to a Z-Wave Switch.
Before trying to add it, do an exclude with the device and then factory reset it. If you don’t properly set up S2 security by scanning the QR code or entering the DSK, that’s why you see all zeroes for the fingerprint and don’t have a proper driver match. Once you get it added properly, if it still doesn’t register with the right driver, post the fingerprint here.
Look for the words “SmartThings. Add a little smartness to your things” in the 1st post.
Try pairing the device right next to your ST hub.
I had already added Mariano’s shared driver to my home hub and see the “Mc” versions listed. I still don’t know how to add/modify the fingerprint.yml file you refer to.
Tried pairing next to the hub about 10 times - no change.
Bruce:
- I excluded the device via the ST Advanced Web app and confirmed that it was removed.
- I factory reset the device as requested.
- When adding the device, I manually typed in the 5 digit DSK and confirmed that the other digits exactly match the values on the smoke detector.
- It has remained in the “processing” state for 10 minutes now with no change, just like the other times I’ve tried. The only way to get beyond that it to kill the ST app and restart it.
- I added the device again without the secure step.
- I don’t see the fingerprint. I see Device ID and Presentation ID under the raw JSON data.
