[ST Edge] Philips Hue LAN [BETA] (3rd Party Driver, Not ST Native)

Thanks for clarifying that you can unselect the Turn On option, I didn’t realize that!

Yes, the single blink was “lselect” in the old API.

Here’s another consideration, how about “Alert: Blink” that sets the lights to a color during the blink and then resets them back to their previous state? It would be great if in the routine there was an “Alert Color” as another option similar to “Color” for the lights that you can set a color. Alternatively, fixed options like Blink-Red, Blink-Green, Blink-Blue would suffice for most use cases.

Over the last 12 hours, my Hue lights seem to be very slow in responding to any commands ST is pushing it (e.g contact sensors, turning lights on/off within the ST app).

I know there was an AWS outage yesterday, but that appears to be resolved. Is anyone else experiencing lag / delay issues on this driver with Hue?

same problems, if not worse, nothing worked properly anymore.

hello,I wanted to know if it works with more Hubs, of my 3 hubs, only one works, the other 2 don’t give me the possibility to link them.(I have no way to click on the gear) are there any solutions? Thank you

I ask before doing damage to my smart home. How can I delete the old hue integration and prevent it from reappearing? Now I have all lamps and hub double. Just delete The old devices and the hue hub created with the official hub?

I would restart your ST hub. It looks like ST didn’t start the driver.

Your original devices are probably under the “linked services” for ST if you used the cloud integration. If it was the local integration, I think they create a hub device that you can delete. That should delete their devices along with it.

This driver doesn’t interact with AWS, so cloud outages would only impact the ST half of the solution. Have you tried checking if local automations still work fine?

Thanks for clarifying that re. AWS.

Yes, I have tested local automations and devices (my original Hue direct integration with ST) and that is working fine.

I actually have two Hue hubs, for which both are experiencing this lag / delay behaviour since yesterday on this driver.

As an example, if I try to interact with the Hub devices that the LAN driver has created, I will now sometimes get a network connection error (see below)

When you interact with the ST app, you are going through their cloud before those commands are sent to you hub. to test a pure local scenario, you would want to create an automation that works with local devices. Something like a local button that turns on a local lightbulb. That automation will operate with interaction by the ST clooud.

Local automations are definitely impacted by this. I have two local automations in particular, one that uses a motion sensor and one that uses a contact sensor. I can see from those devices history, they are registering the motion/contact as soon as it occurs, but the response through the driver to activate my Hue lights is lagging by around 30 seconds or in some cases not executing full stop.

As said, this has only started happening about 24 hours ago. Prior to that, my two Hue hubs had been working flawlessly with this driver since migrating over to it from the original Hue integration about a week ago.

If the motion sensor fired right up, then that makes me think the driver itself is fine. If the resulting delay was on the light, maybe the ST hub is getting bogged down with something. Have you recently received a ST firmware update?

I don’t believe I’ve received a new firmware update, although not sure how exactly I’d check this?

Firmware version that I’m on is as per below:

That’s the Most recent update, which would’ve been applied in the last week or so.

You should have received an email ahead of time telling you that the change would be applied. There’s also usually an announcement post in this forum in the “announcements” section.

Just a quickie. I take you’ve tried the most obvious and restarted the Hue hub. I just don’t see it mentioned…

Yeah I have restarted both my ST Hub (multiple times), the individual Hue hubs, as well as my overall network router, but the issue persists.

That June 5th rollout I’m pretty sure is what corrupted my original Hue integration with ST, which caused me to migrate to using the LAN driver.

I switched over to using the LAN driver about a week ago and all was working flawlessly up until about 36 hours ago.

Maybe the automated gods are trying to tell me something re. Hue & SmartThings

This problem is posted on at least two threads, as yet for me at least, with no solution. The problem for me is ongoing from the driver update nearly 2 weeks ago.
I have exactly the same problem every day, offline, reboot and then after a few hours again hub and all lights offline. Firmware 48.3 and driver 6/6.
I’m sure that @blueyetisoftware 's driver is the best solution and will solve this. However I never use Hue scenes, nor use colours and I want to avoid duplicates so I’m waiting to see if the migration of Hue to Edge works as it should do.

I agree, that worked!

I had already tried this drive in the past and I found it fine, but due to laziness in redoing the automations, I had abandoned it. Yesterday instead I went back, I removed the native integration and everything works perfectly. I also didn’t use hue scenes, but now that they are, I might start to. The candle effect of some lights is nice, and the alert that makes them flash. It will be useful for alerts. Glad I made the switch. Thank you @blueyetisoftware
