SmartThings Android App Updates - Version 1.8.14.26 (Apr ‘24)

Maybe you have to turn them on?

That’s what I had on iOS until yesterday, now only

No possibility any longer of editing lights, thermometers or humidity sensors. Also no “offline devices”
Don’t know if this is a temporary situation or a standardisation of Android and iOS features.

I hope it’s just temporary because they are working on my feature request:

It seems to me that whatever process it is that controls the summary tiles probably isn’t running at the moment. The ‘Show Location status’ page is as dynamic as the tiles themselves and Weather is about the only tile that doesn’t need to look for stuff to monitor.

If they are working on anything, their most urgent problem is to support the TempHumiditySensor and TempSensor device categories for the temperature tiles as they are now live in production drivers.

The summary tile part of your feature request really ought to be in with a good chance of happening as it is just a variation on what they are already doing. The hardest part would probably be in deciding exactly what to present.

Lights should work though…

Well let’s wait and see.

Yeah I’ve got them all on so…

And nothing…

On my wife’s tablet the lights tile works, on my tablet they don’t.

Lights disappeared from my status bar at both of my locations a couple weeks ago and I can not get them back. I have toggled the selector button many times and I have rebooted my hubs. Nothing helps.

Today the status bar listed a contact sensor as offline, but the offline word was in white letters not yellow. When I went to the device tile it showed that the sensor was online. Toggling the status buttons didn’t help. A reboot of the hub fixed that problem, but not the lights.

I am using a Android 14 phone and an Android 13 tablet and have the same problem on both devices.

Update: the contact sensor is again showing offline in white in the status bar, but normally in the device tile.

Don’t know about the humidity and weather…

Things are displaying fine for me. The only problem I have is that items I have de-selected in both Temp and Humidity are still being shown in their detailed tile display.

Galaxy S24 Ultra Android 14

I’ve been noticing the app being wonky probably since yesterday.
First my dryer status is not disappearing despite it not running for 2 days, then it’s the temperature sensor status bar not showing latest values.
Now my tablet doesn’t show light status at all despite my phone still shows correctly.

It’s definitely an outage on the app, but status.SmartThings.com still not admitting it

Same on iOS on the EU servers. I can very briefly see and error showing on the favourites page

I think I found an algorithm that might work!

If you add up all the lights that are turned on, the result is the amount of the lights that are turned on.

For example: if one lamp is on and another lamp is on, two lamps are on.

1 + 1 = 2

I’m not an expert though and maybe the algorithm is way more complicated.

It is the case like you mentioned, but the tiles right now are not at all reflecting how many lights in total are on, at least for me

And, I just noticed that the same SmartThings native Edge driver connected multipurpose sensors are not listed in the Doors-and-Windows listing either in the Android app.

Also, the iOS app’s Home Status is only showing the Weather available on the Home Status list since everything else is gone now.

For me the case is the tiles are simply stuck & and not getting updated anymore (stuck in the status of 4 days ago).
Now looks like everyone is affected, can someone from SmartThings address it ASAP please?

This forum was started a number of years ago so that customers could help other customers with ideas and suggestions. But it’s not an official support channel and it’s not monitored except for issues like spam and harassment. There is a small section for developer support, but that wouldn’t apply to issues like this.

So the best thing is to open an official support ticket using the “contact us“ option in the app or to post on one of the official channels like the Facebook or Twitter/X pages.

The more people who report it the more resources, they are likely to assign to looking into it, it’s just that you can’t actually report it by posting here. :man_shrugging:t2:

If I’d be a Smartthings developer or product manager, I’d spend a lot of time here. Just out of curiosity.

I would also be one of the first users to realize that something’s broken. But I’m an old school developer with 30 years of experience and when I started, test driven development or SCRUM wasn’t a thing.

Maybe it will be fixed in the next “sprint”.

In the first couple of years before they combined the SmartThings developer staff with other Samsung project staff there were a number of staff members who visited the forum frequently. But not much since the V3 came out.

And remember that the people who frequent this forum are very different than the typical SmartThings user. Literally over 90% of SmartThings users now don’t have a hub and even of the hub users, as we have been told many times, that most have 15 or fewer devices and never use any custom code.

They’ve never said officially, but it seems pretty obvious that the target market for SmartThings is people who buy the expensive smart Samsung tv’s and appliances and don’t have hubs. Those are the ones that make the most money for Samsung. Not the power users who hang out in this forum.

So I suspect most Samsung managers would be encouraging their staff to research elsewhere, like the official Samsung support forum. Not here.

JMO, of course. :man_shrugging:t2:
