Just checking in. I am having all of a sudden a ton of issues with my mater smartbulbs from Light shade. They keep going offline frequently. Won’t reset correctly. Sometimes will let me add them turn them off once and then immediately go back into an offline state.
Two in particular I’ve had in the home for over a year with no issues until about 2 weeks ago when they went offline and have stayed that way. I did finally get to bring that back online tonight and they are staying this far.
Are their known issues w the newest release? Are others having similar issues?
I am on the older V3 hub. I did just replace my network router but it has been rock solid on every other regard.
Secondary question. Should I consider upgrading to one of the newer hubs? Would that improve my situation with matter devices?
What I mean is they share with Apple so i know the devices are working. I have full control of them but its showing no hub connection in smartthings when i looK the path
Yes nuki was working but its very very prone to dropping off. When it does it can take Anything from one to one hundred goes to Pair it back. Its the most frustrating device ever
He had two Matter over Thread devices - a SmartThings hub (TBR) and a Nuki lock (end device) - and was having issues. Now he additionally has two plugs (routers), but even now, it doesn’t look any better.
There must be something fundamentally wrong with his setup or environment.
This question hasn’t been answered, for example:
And this thread from half a year ago gives additional, very important context…
Now he nonchalantly mentions that there’s another TBR.
@welshbryn I’d turn off everything, except the SmartThings hub and try again.
These things should work as sold. i have a matter / thread device and i have the adequate gear to add them. Ive reset everything, ive turned them off ive spoken to Nuki and it still fails.
Only this device. Nuki have given me detailed instruction to improve the lock connection which ive followed., ive changed my zigbee channel, ive moved routers. Ive taken your advice
But lets be honest. Who really has all their hubs totslly spread out perfectly or no neighbours with wifi - its a weak argument. Plenty of people in small properties or multiple occupancies who will have several hubs and devices. Its impossible to expect to change and align everything
In the last post you have tagged, NUKI blamed ios 18.4 however id been in contact with them well before that had ever been rolled out. Only now have they given me more detailed instructions. For weeks i waited for replies at times
When other matter devices fail, they add back immediately
This lock has been an issue since purchase and im not the only one who complains.
The bottom line is this Nuki is crap. Its a few feet awsy from the ST hub, there is an onvis matter plug inches away from it and yet its connection is still questionable
Have you added the Onvis plugs to Apple tbr and the lock to st hub? If so they are on different thread networks and the plugs won’t help strengthen the st mesh?
Added to SmartThings first then shared with Matter to Apple. I deleted all items from “matter devices” in ios and deleted them from “my home” in apple.
I held down reset button and reset the plugs.
The plugs work. They switch on and off in SmartThings instantly. My lock is the major issue. Its paired at the moment but ive tried to follow Andreas advice and switch off wifi. Except it wont connect via thread and i need to turn wifi back on to make it work
When you switched off wifi did you delete it from smartthings and try to re onboard it via thread? I dont think it will switch from wifi to thread without re installation, AFAIK
Just a quick notice: looks like the Nuki app has a bug that forces you to activate the WLAN module if you want to use the remote access features.
When I set up my first Nuki Ultra, WLAN wasn’t necessary. Today I wanted to set up a second Nuki Ultra and the app wants me to activate WLAN.
Maybe that’s why we’re so confused. You can’t just use Thread/NAT64 as I did with my first lock. Activating the WLAN module can cause connectivity issues, so I refuse to do that.
I’ve already contacted the Nuki app developer and I hope he will fix it in the next version.
The Nuki app has received several updates in the meantime and the issue has been fixed right away after I have reported it. It was basically just a work flow / UI issue in that particular version of the app. Basically it prevented the connection to the Nuki cloud if the user didn’t activate the WiFi module.
So again: if you have a SmartThings hub with NAT64 enabled (default) you don’t need the WiFi connection and it actually can cause issues.
The Thread stack of the device is the most recent/modern out there and the connection is rock solid.
If you (accidentally) activated the WiFi module of the Nuki Ultra, delete it from ST, delete it from the Nuki app and start over. And of course make sure that you have the latest firmware and Nuki app installed.
