Devices going offline after firmware update 59.8

Would a few of these plugs help? Or even this m100 hub?

Any clue why none of my devices show a connection path and ask me to check again in 20 mins?

Not a single device

Thanks

Can you send a screenshot so I can ask the engineering team, please?
Is this happening with your V3 or V2 hub?

My thread devices that use an ST hub as a TBR show routes.

My thread devices that use a v2 hub and non-ST device as a TBR do NOT show routes. And I get the 20 min. message

Hi, @welshbryn
The engineering team shared more information that might help your case.

Just to confirm, the device is close to the V3 hub, not the V2 Hub, right? The V3 Hub is the only one that supports Matter/Thread devices
It was identified that there are a few TX failures and minor evidence of CCA being an issue in the v3’s logs. So it’s possible you live near other people who are also using the 2.4 GHz spectrum for wifi/ble/thread/zigbee or they got one or more new devices themselves that are causing CCAs potentially but in a way that is only visible to the device itself (e.g. if the device has a CCA failure to transmit, that wouldn’t show up in the hub’s logs). You could try a channel change on the V3 and see if that helps to something like 25, 20, or 15, which has less overlap with Wi-Fi.

Yes its very close to my V3 hub. I will change the channel and hope that improves things.

Ive restarted my hub, zigbee devices showing their path now :+1:t2:

Thanks all

Have you already turned off the WiFi on your device? There’s a reason why it’s off by default and must be actively turned on.

The Aqara M100 won’t help, if you don’t know what you’re doing. The onvis plug should be enough.

Yes. Turned off wifi this evening and lost all connection to the lock all together. Dropped off SmartThings and showed only bluetooth connection in the Nuki App

Ive just seen a firmware update for the lock. Matter 1.4 and some other improvements. Ill get that sorted see if that helps.

Wifi back on, lock responding again

The update to Matter 1.4 was released in April 2025…

Make sure to update your lock all the way to the latest version 5.6.10. Version 5.7 is already on its way…

In the meantime, buy that plug as I suggested half a year ago, do a factory reset of the lock and don’t turn on the WiFi. Nobody does, because it’s absolutely unnecessary.

I’m following the discussions on the Nuki forum and Reddit since quite a while now and connectivity issues aren’t really a thing.

Edit: just got the notification for the beta firmware update:

No Wi-Fi or Bluetooth in sight and I still have full remote access. All it needs is a connection from the lock to the cloud (via Thread and NAT64) and a connection from the app to the cloud.

Ok so i only got firmware today on the lock that upgraded to and thats 4.8.6 - this is the most current fir me.

Ill reset it and ive ordered that plug see what happens

When i do turn off wifi now i get nothing and the app shows this

Thanks

Since you’ve never mentioned the model of your Nuki lock, I assume it’s the 4th Gen. So this might be interesting:

Now check if NAT64 is activated on your hub. Log in here, select your hub, scroll all the way down:

Yes its a 4th gen. Yes NAT64 is enabled

Working nights now so will sort tomorrow

Thanks

Came across this Reddit post where one of the developers from Shenzhen Heiman shares some insights. Not terribly interesting for some of us here, but he stresses that (mains-powered) Full Thread Devices, like plugs, are very important in a Thread mesh network. And this mirrors exactly my experience: my Nuki lock always preferred FTDs over the Thread border router (SmartThings hub) - even when it’s the closest to the Nuki.

Sadly. I have no such luck.

New Thread/Matter plug in a socket 1.5 feet away from my Door. Door restarted, wifi off. Cant get it onto matter at all. It keeps timing out and saying it wont connect.

I pit wifi back on, matter worked after several attempts. (This has always been the case)

I manually turn wifi off. I do not get the matter symbol or any connection to the server.

Now my app is crashing on “checking security code” and i cant turn wifi back on.

Also My Nuki never shows a connection path. All other devices are now after a hub power down but not the Nuki.

The Thread plug shows a connection direct to hub

Do you have IPv6 turned off on your Internet router?

Yes i believe it will still be. Nuki specifically told me to turn it off last time I had issues with this lock

WTF.

Turn IPv6 back on on your Internet router. And then reboot (power cycle) your hub.

Like ive said before. They all said turn all other modes off on my router AX Mode, 5ghz 6ghz. Guest wifi.

All sorts of stuff that like you say have nothing to do with Thread!!

Very tempted to switch to another brand now. Its the only matter device that gives me issues

They are one of the coolest companies in the smart home world and they know what they are doing. They were probably a bit confused - just like anyone else here in this thread. Austrians…

Until recently, the SmartThings hubs had no NAT64, so WiFi was the only option!!!

I told them to update their website a couple of months ago!

https://help.nuki.io/hc/en-us/articles/14596875392017-Setting-up-your-Matter-integration

The green checkmarks weren’t there.

Oh. And make sure that your SmartThings hub and your WiFi router are at least 1.5 meters apart…
