I have same: Pixel 3 (not XL), same versions of ST app and Android. Works fine for me. In trying to get it to work, I did a range of things such as clearing app cache, app data, reinstalling app, re-authenticating, etc. Nothing seemed to work at the time, but then all of a sudden it started working.
I donât know if itâs maybe a Samsung server-side thing or what. Just it suddenly started working at some point.
I just upgraded to the official release of Android 11 that was released today, and figured Iâd finally get around to migrating to the new SmartThings app. Whenever I try to use the âSmart Lock Guest Accessâ I get the error described in the original post about âCouldnât downloadâ. So now using the new app I canât set codes for my smart lock anymore.
I checked and the app has all requested permissions assigned and there are no ad blockers, but very frustrating if this what the new app experience is like.
Pixel 4XL, ST 1.7.51.42
Same issue, even after upgrade the app says âCouldnât downloadâ. My phone is no longer on beta version. Now the version is: Android 11 (RP1A.200720.009)
Oh dear. So perhaps I should stick with the Android Beta for a while?
Umm, I wouldnât. SmartThings support had previously denied support quoting that I was using a beta version. That is not valid anymore, hoping to get attention to this issue now that I am using the public version.
Smartthings Support is apparently aware of this issue and looking towards a fix. I was just on this posting:
Oh my god- Iâm completely fed up of these Schlage Connect apps breaking. I think Iâm just going to switch all my locks to Schlage Encode.
Just bought a new TV that I canât set up because the app STILL doesnât allow add-on downloads using the latest Android release (not a beta, the official Android 11 release on my Pixel 4). Very frustrating and unfortunate.
Iâm using Android 11 full release and have lost control of Q80 TV and Samsung Soundbar. I report via app and never get response. Very disappointing
Pixel 4
Was working last week, sep23 2020, updated my pixel xl3 and now cant download update. Checked smarthings app and it is up to date. Anyword on how to fix it?
Same here⌠pixel 3
Heard Nov when they fully roll out 11 across all devices. Its definitely a version 11 bug
Iâm in the same boat as the last 3/4 commenters before me. Got a brand new TV from Costco and triedto set up smart things app on my Pixel 3A phone running on latest Android 11 stock production version. Downloading addin does not work. Iâm finding it hard to understand how a large company like Samsung does not have enough time/resources to test and support an Android version thatâs in market. Maybe there arenât enough phones with Android 11 in the world out there for it to be a priority. One of the downsides for our desire to be on the latest and greatest version of Android I guess. I still keep checking week over week to see if and when this issue gets resolved. Until then my old Chromecast comes out of retirement for screen casting from my phone
This is ridiculous. It stopped working before Android 11 and I havenât gotten it to work since. Are there any updates?
I put in a ticket, this is the response:
I am sorry to hear that you are getting a message to update to connect the TV in the SmartThings application. We are glad to assist you.
I see that you are using the Android 11 version on your mobile. If you are reeving download the add-on message, we would like to inform you that this is a known issue with users on Android 11 due to its recent release, and SmartThings is not completely tested on Android OS 11, some features are yet to be tested. Our engineers are working to clear up issues on the Android 11 PIXEL phones. If possible, try on a non-Pixel device to access the device.
Google Pixel devices tend to have new OS versions before other Android Running Phones/Brands, and until that new OS version 11 has been fully released to all Android Models/Brands (Samsung, Motorola, LG, etc), this can result in errors being seen in the app, despite having a âpublicâ OS.
Apologies for the inconvenience. Your patience is highly appreciated while we continue working on this.
If you have any queries feel free to reach out to us. Weâll be glad to assist you.
Kind Regards,
because itâs not like google provides beta and developer releases of its code for months before they launch or anything.
They do and most newer phones (Including Samsung) will get the update to Android 11. Usually 1-2 months behind the Pixel devices. Right now the only devices that have 11 and not in a beta state are those Pixel devices.
Here is a link to the estimations of when other brands will have the update.
Yes
I was being sarcastic
I am having the same issue, very disappointing. Really turns me off ever buying more samsung products. Tempted to return my new TV that I just bought because they canât keep their apps working.
