Just took delivery of a 2020 model TV and obviously assumed I was doing something wrong. Then I googled and here I am.
This is the kind of thing that makes you want to bring back the stocks or the pillory. Ridiculous that nobody thought to include keyboard access at the beginning of the development. That it got to release without it is unfathomable. That after all the feedback it still isn’t there can only be attributed to pure malevolence.
I 100% agree. I just bought my tv tonight, and because of this feature not being present, I am returning it to the store tomorrow. What a joke.
I agree, but that SmartThings keyboard only appears in a few places when navigating through the HDTV. It does not appear in most apps on the Samsung HDTV. Like during account login in most apps, or even in the search pages in most apps.
It did appear for Samsung account login, search but not for utube but then thats probably down to the app developers although I stand to be corrected on that
It is absolutely ridiculous, i have bought an ru7100 on 2019 And this app doesnt support any kind of virtual keyoboard that make our lives easier. LG has been better on suport And tecnology.
I just found this new feature. In the new SmartThings app, open SmartApps, then tap the hamburger menu button, then select SmartThings Labs, and there is a ‘Bluetooth Keyboard’ available now which can connect to my Samsung QLED HDTV, and other Bluetooth devices.
There’s also a ‘TV Quick Control’ in SmartThings Labs which displayed fine in the Notifications bar on my Tab S6, but not on my S8+.
Smarttings Labs is only available in select regions and devices, no one knows the exact criteria for having it but thought I would throw that out there incase people go looking and can’t find it
3 years later…still no keyboard in the app? Come on Samsung, it’s unbelievable.
I will literally give my Samsung tv a 1 star rating. Support is a part of modern products I would have been better off getting almost any other tv. I’m posting mine on Facebook market place gonna eat the lose and 1 star rate this terrible product

This is the craziest thing. I just set up a Samsung for a senior and logging her into all her accounts was a giant pain due to the lack of a keyboard in the app.
Does anyone have an alternative app to suggest?
the latest samsung smart tv has both keyboard and mouse on samsung smart things phone app! jusdt link your tv to your phone then you can use the phone as both keyboards&mouse easy and works good IMO //ben
I am baffled by the amount of useless features in the app. The only real useful thing would be typing with your iPhone or IPad keyboard and it is MISSING?!

I figured the year 2022 would have this, since typing anything in with a remote that does not have a keypad is stupid. I guess not?
Update. April 2023 and still no keyboard sorry for the smart things app. The only thing I can think of is that there’s some legal issue, but I just can’t imagine what that would be. That this is an issue is pants on head retarded.
I have the ability to open a keyboard when working with my new Samsung TVs at my house.
Not sure why it is not working for you.
