Did anybody else see this? I haven’t tried it yet. I’m surprised Harmony even bothered.
I too am surprised. I thought when they stopped selling Harmony they would also stop development except for security updates.
What exactly is that? Iphone app? Not seeing anything like that for Android… yet.
Yes, iPhone app. Unfortunately I don’t own a Harmony system anymore, so I can’t test what exactly they updated. I’d be very curious if it’s still a “two way” integration. Harmony Activities in SmartThings and SmartThings Devices in Harmony.
I’ve been hearing rumors for a couple of months that logitech is considering bringing back some harmony options for a Matter streaming control box now that a lot of people are going back to the office, and there isn’t the same demand for work at home/school at home mice and keyboards. Just rumors, though.
Attempted to update. It says a re-login is required. Tried to re-login and got this error. Removed SmartThings entirely from Harmony and re-added: same error.
whomp whomp.
Same issue. Tried 10 different ways, same outcome
Over on the Harmony Reddit there’s several posts about a firmware update to the remote & hub that has bricked them and requires a full factory reset and restore.
After several tries, I was able to get them to link. I’m able to see literally everything… including some useless things like motion, presence and contact sensor status. I’m not sure I like this now that I can’t explicitly choose what is in Harmony, it’s quite crowded.
Nice! Glad it started working. Unfortunately integrations using the new SmartThings API are all or nothing since smartthings doesn’t offer a device-level authorization.
Another update: my Harmony Elite has crashed/rebooted every time I’ve gone into device control for lighting or looked at sensor status. Prior to this, it’s been flawless.
My assumption is that because there are now hundreds of devices loaded into the remote vs the 8-10 that I specified before, the remote doesn’t have the processing power to update all of those device statuses and crashes.
Further observations: the new integration does not expose Harmony Activities to SmartThings anymore, meaning you can no longer trigger Harmony Activities vis ST or use them in Routines (unless you’re using @lmullineux’s solution).
Well that makes the whole integration pointless. For me anyway.
@RJGill84 I reached the same conclusion. Linked in ST and all remote control operations became totally and considerably lagged, mostly upto 3 or 4+ minutes. The remote appeared to que them and then issue a stream of cached requests at which point it would become responsive for maybe 30 seconds and then go back to lagging.
Having done multiple reboots of both remote, hub and wifi network without joy I removed the ST integration and devices from Harmony completely and all is back to normal.
Shame, would’ve been useful but, as you say, at least we have the Harmony edge lan driver from @lmullineux which works really well
Thank you for posting your findings. I’m sorry you had to go through all that frustration, but I’m also glad that you took the time to let us know. I don’t wanna go through that.
Is this apple only? I was going to have a play around with it to see what it can do compared to the edge driver - but i dont own any IOS devices
@lmullineux As far as I’m aware this is a Harmony side integration making ST devices visible to it’s app (for me on Android) and does not expose any Harmony functionality to ST…
I stand to be corrected though
yikes! that’s not good.
Ah thanks, I seen posts about their ios app being updated to enable this. I assumed the be integration could only be setup from iOS because of that
I have just given it a quick try, no crashes for me.
Although i did notice my harmony elite has had a firmware update - not sure when that arrived but it was on the screen when i picked it up to test
