UK - Faulty Plug, support says nope!

Thought I’d try on here as the email support for the UK is woeful!
My smart plug failed a few weeks ago (hadn’t noticed it as I assumed it was my automation running on it which was playing up). Logged a ticket with support who’ve stated that because it’s 6 weeks outside of its warranty period it’s tough. It seems that the switching mechanism to control the power has failed (on/off via the app/plug does respond but does nothing).
Any ideas on what I can do? I wouldn’t expect a plug with an RRP of £30 to fail after 13 and a half months, especially with my V1 plug is still going strong after 3 years!
