I am right there with you - I am having the same issues with the app logging me out. I have also experienced some of the other odd problems like it rearranging things. The latest issues with the app have me considering jumping ship and moving to something else as well.
Above all else, I want a reliable home automation system. I believe the maturity of the ST platform is one of the reasons so many people use ST now. But it seems like that is becoming less of a priority for ST.
I donāt see any responses from my previous post. Has anyone gave this a try, and if so, did it fix it?
I have 2FA enabled, and on the third day after the previous app update promoting for login, the SmartThings app made me re-save the SmartThings credentials on my iPad. Since then it hasnāt asked for the the login again. I believe itās the Samsung.com entry in the iOS passwords settings that where saved, although that might not be it either.
I tried doing as you suggested and that didnāt fix the issue. The problem isnāt that the password isnāt saved in a password cache like iOS passwords or other password manager. The app shouldnāt log out when loading.
When this happens for me, for about 1 or 2 seconds, the app appears normal with my favorites showing, etc. Then, suddenly the app hiccups and reverts to the login screen. I wonder if others are seeing the same behavior. I had a longer password for my Samsung account with special characters. Iām trying changing it to only 15 characters with just letters and numbers only to see if that helps. Itās interesting that while many are having this problem, others arenāt, so I wonder if thatās related. Do others that are having this problem have passwords containing special characters?
Yes, and with 2FA enabled. I also have Android devices connecting to SmartThings too.
My iPad stopped prompting for login on the third day when it prompted me to save the SmartThings credentials again which it had not done on the previous two days after the update. I recall that on the third day that I was so frustrated that I kept killing the SmartThings app without logging in more than a few times, before I finally logged into the app which it then asked me save the credentials again.
Well, changing to a simpler password without special characters had no effect. The app logged out again on me this morning when opening it. @boomshaka, good luck to you but Iāve done the same many times in the last few weeks and it hasnāt helped. Iāve also disabled and re-enabled 2-factor hoping that action would reset something and it didnāt help either. It almost seems like thereās an unhandled exception that the app is hitting at some point when loading that is causing it to reset webcredentials saved in the app.
Sad to say itās still doing it for me with latest app version and latest iOS. Just had to log in this morning. Interestingly, the app opened and let me surf around a bit before freezing up and then calling for the login. Way to go - make me think Iām doing alright and then surprise me when I least expect it.
Iām finding that the best part of this bug is that you donāt know you are logged out until you spend 5 minutes running and rerunning and editing scenes because they donāt work when you run them and generate only a cryptic red exclamation point. Then you exit the app and reload it, and what do you know, request to log in.
I recently move from Android to iOS & Having the same issue on my iPhone 13.
The funny part is every time I log in again (with 2FA), Samsung sends me an email with the subject line āThanks for Your Purchase Registrationā with Model: iPhone and serial number : New serial number every time.
Please make the app show a sign-in msg as soon as the user opens it (if you can not stop the sign-out issue) and make face id enable for iOS users. So users donāt have to go thru all the processes.
