Am I the only one that seems to have to reset motion sensors every-time a firmware patch is pushed?
They keep reading temperature, but depending on state at the time. They are either stuck on or off. If stuck on, I do not notice for few days and alarm system never goes active (safety issue?). Also have to run around pulling batteries to reset.
Logic should change to turn motion off at least if no motion event sent in say a minute or so.
About ready to start using z-wave motion sensors instead of smart things devices…
Since about August 23rd 2016 some of the motions sensors (2 out of 10) are only reporting temperature, never motion. Have removed them and added again with same result. Even changed battery though said 77 percent.
It might be helpful to note 1 is in garage and other in the shed so temperatures are higher in the high 80s currently, but below max spec.
I have replaced them with other sensors to see if was a range issue, but they are reporting fine being in same locations.
Thoughts?
Is there a place to make tickets against issues found with ST?
I have the same problem. ST motion sensors shows only themperature. Wrote a letter to support, no luck yet.
Please share if you hear back which hopefully you do else I am starting to loss faith in this product.
There are several threads regarding this:
I have posted many times before about the Smartthings sensors (especially the motion sensors) but with my last two retired today, I thought it was a good time to revive this never ending struggle to keep the Smartsense sensors alive.
Here is the timeline…
April 2016 was the reset day…
But then things got progressively worse…And after countless hours spent on beefing up network to avoid interference, adding repeaters left and right, I decided to go one by one to replace any failed zigbee devices with zwave…
December 2016…
Today, the last two Smartsense motion sensors have been replaced by Aeon 6 multi sensors…
After replacing 20 some zigbee sensors one by one since December, I noticed one thing. Only the Smartsense have been doomed as it seems. I have NYCE sensors that are still g…
Sorry if this is a duplicate. I searched around and didn’t find exactly the same thing.
I recently have been having only my SmartThings sensors dying. They’ve been in service for about a year without issue. A couple of months ago my motion sensor died. I tried and new battery and nothing wont even turn on. Now I have a multipurpose sensor that just died (low use / traffic window). Tried new batteries and it will turn on for a second and then go out again. These are the coin battery ones (from the V2 hub starter kit).
Anyone else seeing these issues and are there any “tricks” to revive these sensors. I’d really hate to lose them.
All the other sensors in my house are the IRIS ones which I haven’t had a single issue with, so I won’t probably replace the dead ST sensors with ST sensors.
