[ST Edge] Philips Hue LAN [BETA] (3rd Party Driver, Not ST Native)

That is per Hue bridge, but I wouldn’t remove them unless you actually have an issue with loading the scenes for your rooms.

Thanks, that’s useful to know, and I’ll now hold off deleting any scenes until I’ve tried loading them.

I need to get “scan nearby” to detect the Hue bridges first though, as that’s still an issue for me.

Agree - @AurElHA response was related to the standard Hue Integration and is not the path I am on. I am getting stuck in the ‘Scan for nearby devices’ step, after installing the Edge Driver. I see people are recently experiencing the same behavior in this thread.

I’m testing it now and it looks like ST changed out some code in a recent firmware update. I’m working on an update for it. This specifically impacts discovery of the hub and not other devices.

Sorry, didn’t noted it was in your Driver Post, I thought it was a general discussion.

Good to hear it’s not just me, and even better to hear that you are working on an update. Many thanks.

Philips Hue Beta 2023-08-14.01.02.18.41

  • Fixes issue caused by ST adding protected metatables to their mDNS discovery data

@black-paladin / @Joostve / @Sam_Tapp / @saosinx88 / @MagicMike - I would look for this update and give it another try. Should be good to go after the update.

I also wouldn’t try this unless you think the firmware of those devices is corrupt. 99% of problems have a simpler solution. If you run into any other issues, after the update, feel free to send me a DM. If you can get logs, I should be able to see the issue.

Ok, I have installed version 2023-08-14T01:02:18.416725972 and rerun Scan Nearby and my three Hus bridges were found - many thanks for the fix.

I was able to immediately link the first bridge but on the second bridge, I can’t link and if I open the tile I just keep getting a message stating “The device hasn’t updated all of its status information yet. Please try later.” I’ll investigate that later but just wanted to report back that the discovery fix worked. UPDATE: resetting the SmartThings Hub allowed me to link the second Hue Bridge. All looks good now

Thanks. There is a known issue with ST that doesn’t initialize all devices. You need to power cycle your ST hub as a workaround. This is a one-time thing. Everything should work fine after that.

I tried it but when I get home the hue lights all turn on. Is this its purpose? Even before this change I had noticed that if I give the device hub hue the power command ,all lights at the last uti level turn on.

That automation doesn’t turn on the lights, it just tells Hue that you are home. You must have a different automation in either Hue or in ST that is turning on the lights. The purpose of this feature is to tell Hue when you are home/away so you can use that within the Hue app for use cases where you aren’t relying on your phone location.

If you hit the power master switch on the hub device, it does in fact turn on/off the lights for that hub. That is also unrelated and just how that switch works.

Cross posting this in case any Hue users are looking for outdoor light fixtures. These are compatible with the driver as well:

I have them on my porch and agree they work well with the driver and overall.

My Hue Lights are not communicating with ST this morning. Any known issues ?

Ok, but the problem is that on the routine I can set only geofence with “attiva” or "disattiva (power on or power off).

I don’t know of a different way to be able to do a routine without turning it on or off

Unhighlight “attiva” by tapping it a second time. It’s a quirk of the ST app. Wish they wouldn’t highlight that by default.

My hue lights aren’t working with smartthings either since an app update last night. I’m now on app version 1.8.05.24 and hub firmware version 000.0048.00005. I’m about to turn the hub off for a few minutes to see if that helps. All the hue lights are still working in the app and my hue motion sensors are still showing state changes in smartthings
