SmartTiles Dashboard 5.4.2 - July 13 (www.SmartTiles.click)

Yes dave, I have asked and I pretty much got nowhere back then. I did change the substream to MJPEG back when I originally asked. This time with your and tgauchat’s advice I fiddled with the laptop browser URL until I made it (kind of) work. See my post right above this one. Got any ideas now? And thanks for your responses.

Blue Iris supported cameras work fine except in Chrome.

@YEM I have not used the sub-stream any more since I need it for other activity. Since this is for view only, I have been using the image 5-sec freshing by Smarttiles,

If you do not mind to use this option, you can use below format and add the URL to “Stop Motion Video streams” in Smarttiles.
http://username:password@IP_Address:port/Streaming/channels/1/picture?

May be that …in whatever next release @625alex can give 5-sec fresh as an option so user can change it

How did you get your d-link camera to work on the tiles?

I’m currently using the SmartTiles Dashboard on a kindle fire mounted in my kitchen. When my home is set to away mode or my virtual security system goes into alarm I would like to temporarily disable the SmartTiles Dashboard. This would prevent and intruder from accessing the interface and seeing notifications. My approach to security is “stealth mode” I don’t want the intruder to know that I know they are there. The longer they stay in the house the longer I have to get law enforcement there. I was playing around with making a virtual switch to do this but I couldn’t figure out how to interface it with SmartTiles.
Thank you for any help or ideas!

Sounds like an interesting feature request!

Interesting, because the way it works is when mine is set to “away” my alarm is set. If my dashboard is disabled, I would have no way to set my mode to “home”.

I use presence sensors to arm and disarm my system so I don’t need access to my dashboard. Do you have an access code on your device or on the smart app to prevent unauthorized access?

No, I do not. My SmartThings is not good enough to “always” detect the presence, or non-presence" of our cell phones, so I cannot use that. I manually set my modes. Also, I am not smart enough to use a PIN to gain access. Right now, I am having enough issues with my contact sensors not working I don’t even set my alarm. I just ordered some new contact sensors that will, hopefully, bring my system back to life!
EDIT: I could use a PIN on my phone, but I choose not to. I would like to add a PIN to our SmartTiles app. that would be cool!

Sounds like a good request actually but how do you enable it again? Pin code?

I would imagine a 4 digit PIN. that would work for me.

Hi, Alex. I’m sorry, I don’t see an “install now” option on your git hub page. I’d like to have multiple instances/dashboards.

The GitHub version has been removed indefinitely. Please see update in this Announcement. Multiple instances are in the feature “wish list” for possible future versions, as far as I know.

Does your device have a lock screen feature? You can lock your device this way.

I want to publicly thank Alex for all his effort with SmartTiles. It is an awesome “3rd party” app. That fact has been recognized by a LOT of people evidenced by the interest in this, and other, string(s). It MUST also be recognized by SmartThings itself evidenced by the interest it created in Ben, SmartThings VP. Because SmartThings will not provide Alex access to certain code within SmartThings, SmartTiles has a security issue. To me, there seems to be at least two avenues to fix this.

  1. Those who wish to use SmartTiles may continue to do so with the assumption of the security risk.
  2. Hey, SmartThings. You KNOW this is a much desired app. Why don’t you rewrite as an official SmartThings app with the appropriate security built in?

under generic mjpeg streams, point to this URL:

http://ipaddress:port/video/mjpg.cgi?&user=username&pwd=password

Security is not actually the major concern. Please see more detailed response and carry on the discussion in the relevant Topic, Thanks!

Yeah, definitely security is not the main cause. my guess is ST uses a raspberry pi v1 for their poll server hence they couldn’t handle the polling from smartTiles. Of course there are other concerns stated by @625alex as well.

My apologies, at the time of my reply I didn’t read further. Thanks for the help.

Forgive the noob question but I’ve went through your site and I can’t find how to display the the dashboard. I presume it is a URL that I go to? It doesn’t seem to be based on your site or the IDE site… confused. :frowning:

Never mind. I found it. Under the SmartTiles App at the bottom there is a SmartTiles URL section that you can obtain a URL. Why this isn’t printed clearly on the front page of the website is mind-boggling. Especially since the app is so well designed.
