SmartTiles Dashboard 5.4.2 - July 13 (www.SmartTiles.click)

Seen that yesterday. However, Chrome just refreshed automatically for me and all was well.

I’m seeing a really annoying refresh issue with the latest version. We have an iPad running SmartTiles and it’s refreshing the page every 60 seconds or so. The entire screen flashes and it recreates and arranges all the icons.

My wife texted me this morning that she’s turned off the iPad because it was “driving her crazy” :frowning: :frowning:

Is this a known bug in the latest version?

I just noticed this issue with one instance of SmartTiles but not the others.

To remedy this, go to SmartTiles preferences and click “Done”, no need to change anything.

I will create a patch shortly.

Thanks, I’ll give it a try when I get home tonight.

This is fixed with patch 5.4.2. It is now available at GitHub and I will update the “Install Now” stream shortly.

Thanks Alex, looks like it’s fixed now. Great work!

@Ashwin, width=1280 cold be set to lower value, right? Might be good to reduce the bandwidth.

Does the camera need to be public for this method?

Correct. Or you can just omit that parameter to get a 320x80 image: https://nexusapi.camera.home.nest.com/get_image?uuid=7aa344190bd348dfaf85bc4382814908. (1280 is the native resolution of Dropcam and Dropcam Pro; 1920 is the native resolution of Nest Cam.)

No. The camera can be private, but you’ll have to log into Nest with the same browser as SmartTiles.

When there is an update if I installed with the web version does it auto update everywhere or do I have to reinstall it?

SmartTiles instances that are installed via Install Now option will be upgraded automatically.

Agreed: this is a VERY nice feature to have as a monitoring & management utility while at my computer. That is, instead of having my phone in front of me and/or relying on push notifications. The idea of using this as a wall-mounted panel is pretty cool too. It would make good use of an old phone no longer used that is only connected to your local wifi network for the desired room or area of your house. Just use the old phone’s browser to open SmartTiles for your particular location. Just tap a button, and wa-lah! It truly is getting better and better. Thanks, everyone.

Has anyone gotten standard IP cameras working in SmartTiles?

What do you mean by “standard”?

My Foscam work fine. I create a special login for them for extra security.

Anyone found a way to get RTSP working with ST? I’ll love to get my Ubiquiti cameras working in ST, especially on my SmartTiles Dashboard, @625alex

Your bigger issue, is finding a browser that natively supports an RTSP feed. Codec issue… Using the rtsp url should work fine with a codec your browser would natively recognize…

Well I noticed there is a format listed in the app for Foscam. I’ve used it for my cam and it hasn’t worked. Perhaps that is Foscam specific? Mine is a Hikvision cam.

What about Safari in iOS?

Make sure the camera feed URL works in a plain browser window. If it doesn’t work there, then it won’t work within SmartTiles.

@YEM Smarties listed for Foscam, but you can get it to work for your Hikvision if you change the substream from H.264 to Mjpeg. You will need to play around with the browser before you add the URL to the Smartiles.

BTW, I thought that you have asked about this before

This helped thank you. I played around with the URL in the browser address until it worked. Now I have the video feed in SmartTiles…sometimes.

The feed will only ever appear in one device. If it is running in one place it will not appear in another (I am checking from my iPhone, iPad, and Mac OSX Firefox). And regardless the video feed will only appear for about 10-15 seconds (on the iOS devices) and then it goes black.

The Firefox feed seems to stay on even if I try to start it in an iOS device. In that case the iOS feed will not start. It’s the opposite if it is running in iOS and I start it in another iOS device or Firefox. The initial feed quits and the new one will start.

Any ideas on this behavior? Thanks again.
