Re-logging did the trick. Thanks
This happens to me too. Iāll notice automations with Bond stop working and have to re-connect Bond to the Smartthings app. I donāt know if itās a Bond or Smartthings problem but I hope they figure it out. Itās not a deal breaker or anything, just a bit annoying.
When Bond disappeared and then re-appeared as a linked service seems to be the only breaking point for me. Well, Bond also updated their firmware around the same time. So, I guess that I am right back to being unsure who broke it (and dreaming of the day that automation makes my life easier, instead of testing my troubleshooting skills).
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is it possible to have this bridge learn a remote other than a Bond remote etc ?
I assume so since they mention Somfy blind control and I have some RF blinds which I control currently with an RF remote no worries, but Iād like to integrate them into ST and this seems an ideal way to do it if I can get the bridge / app to learn from the existing remote, but the I havenāt seen anything yet from what Iāve read about that learning processā¦
Not dumb at all. The easiest way to learn if Bond can support a particular remote is to provide them the FCC ID from the back of the remote. If the linked page below does not yield positive results, then follow the Support link to confirm. They have been quite supportive when I have had questions.
Thanks for the quick reply. I had found that link before and put what I think was the FCC ID (looks like the right size, but doesnāt specifically say FCC ID on the remote) into there, but it didnāt come up with anything so Iāll contact support and see what they say.
Hopefully I will be able to make it work since Somfyās work and mine are essentially the same thing.
Thanks again.
Just try teaching it the remote. I did it for my retrofit RF roller shades. After teaching it execute the commands a bunch of times to make sure itās reliably working. I had to delete and reteach mine a couple of times to get it to be robust. The trick is trying different distances between the remote and Bond hub when teaching the commands. Good luck.
OK thanks for the advice. I donāt have a Bond base yet, I am still in the āif it will at least have a chance of working I will go get oneā phase.
So it seems like thereās a good chance it will work as my blinds are 433.92Mhz so fingers crossed⦠Iāll order a base and see what happens.
At my old house, I took a picture of the back of a remote and sent it to support. (They have been ridiculously patient with helping me.)
Thanks for the reply. I contacted support and sent photos of front and rear of remote and they say it should work but they canāt confirm and itās basically āsuck it and seeā.
When controlling Somfy āmyā button is missing on official ST app. How to bring it back? Should I use a custom DHT? Is supposed to be shown?
Please advice
Hey @bond-jacob @bond-merck just wondering if yall were still working on the device handler for the somfy shade controls? also is there a way to make the button label OPEN/CLOSE vs ON/OFF in smartthings app?
yo is this sunny from Porterville? living in WC?
Is there a way to make my device ālocalā? ST not recognizing my fan via Bond
No will based device will ever run local
I just purchased and setup a Bond Bridge for my shades. Setup and learning of the remote control was simple and straight forward as was adding Bond Home as a SmartThings Connected Service. I would prefer that the Bond Bridge talk directly to my SmartThings hub over my LAN.
I immediately noticed that shades show up in SmartThings as On/Off devices instead of Open/Close devices. I emailed Bond Support and they replied

The SmartThings integration still does not support āOpen/Closeā commands with shades which is why the commands that are visible to you are only āOn/Off.ā
I find it hard to believe that the SmartThings API for connected services only supports āOn/Offā device types.
Jacob mentioned this issue over a year ago and still no progress.
Very disappointed that that the Bond Bridge has not lived up to my expectations.
SmartThings does support shade open/close commands. I believe the bond support person is saying their specific integration does not. They need to update their integration to enable the support.
That is not what they are saying. Here is the reply that I received from Bond Support:

Thank you for your response. We do not have any information nor a timeframe as to when the āOpen/Closeā feature for Bond devices will be supported in SmartThings. In order for the feature to be available in SmartThings, you can send an email to them for a feature request since they are in charge of the support for integrations with companies such as ours. We really do apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused you. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us once more, and we will gladly assist you. Regards, Matt
I donāt buy that. Lutron shades, Brunt, Leviosa, Somfy, etc. all use a cloud-to-sloud integration with SmartThings like Bond does and have proper shades open/close integration.
hereās an example with Leviosa
Hereās Somfy
Hereās The Shade Store
Maybe @bond-jacob can clarify
I cannot believe the lack of competence at Bond support. I have no confidence in this company or itās product.
