I saw the Energy and Indoor Air Quality tiles coming. They link to the Energy and Air Care apps, not to devices. The ‘Home Insight’ area is more readable with all the tiles on screen but it now takes two rows on my mobile without much happening. That takes a lot space away from Favourites. OK I don’t see the point of Favourites but lots of users clearly do.

The categories on the Routines are welcome but they take up too much screen space and make the UI inconsistent. It would have been better to keep the compass icon for Discover where it took up no extra space and made sense, and also to handle categories in a similar way to Room names.

The less said about the Discover page the better. That’s just a mess. Again sodding great buttons for the groups of Routine templates but nothing for SmartApps which just get chucked into the ‘All’ group. It was much better before.

The Map View remains unusable due to the lack of sensible scaling. There isn’t a way to size the rooms in the first place, and if you change the size of device icons the size of the furniture also changes.

Can you post screenshots? Only available in God’s own country and Korea.

+1 for the Dashboard icons new view.

+1, +1, +1, +1, +1, FOR THE ROUTINE CATEGORIES. However, finger swiping down is TOO SENSITIVE for me since it occasionally switches to the Discover page. Now I’ll have to start creating my categories, but it should be easy since I use headers in all my Routine names to alphabetically sort them now.

I’m in the UK so I don’t have anything that wasn’t on your screenshot.

They have renamed the status section Home insight with the settings now being the Home insight settings. So why on earth they have only labelled it as Dashboard on the page with no mention of Home insight is a mystery. On a mobile I get a double row of icons in the Dashboard and there are plenty of other tiles that aren’t active and visible.

The Home insight settings include a toggle for the messages, which are apparently currently regionally restricted.

They are now calling that page Home rather than Favourites.

Yes, I encountered that. The Discover page doesn’t need to be that prominent to start with, let alone capable of being opened inadvertently.

Gonna download some more fitting later.

Very easy creating my Categories because it automatically list my Automations in alphabetical order when selecting them for the Category. :+1:

Give devices to someone else in the Devices page menu is a new one on me. I don’t know what it does but it talks about the devices being removed from the Location.

I get offered the choice of a single test device on my beta hub, or both my service hubs which are grouped.

If I choose the test device I am told I also have to choose my beta hub, which isn’t one of the options.

I was hoping the Installed SmartApps would have been fixed by now, but they still return an error when clicked on.

Let’s send him a :bulb::

I’m only offered this option on my primary Home location and not my other location with just a single V2 hub in it. And in my Home location when I select it, it only shows me a Station Hub that’s the secondary hub in the Hub group with two Station hubs. It doesn’t do anything for me since it just says I should select the Primary hub instead which isn’t shown. STRANGE FEATURE.

Finally, the app update Notice October 2024 says that the secondary hub will now take over as the primary hub so that devices are still connected. I have only one device on the two Station Hub Group which is a smart power outlet for my primary V2 hub so I can power cycle it remotely if needed.

I can see what might be going on in my case. Devices never used to have an ‘owner’ so most of my devices don’t have one. That changed and most of my devices installed since that time were installed using a non-personal account that owns the Location and is also the owner of those devices. Lately I have been lazy and been using my personal account to install devices, and although I am sure that most of those devices still ended up owned by the Location owner, I have three that aren’t - the two hubs plus the single test virtual device that were offered to me.

So that might explain why those three devices are offered, but not what the feature actually does.

I also have a secondary Location. In my case with just two parked V2 hubs and nothing else. Those hubs and the Location itself are owned by my personal account. I don’t see the option there.

I know it’s largely just fluff, but I am pleased to see:

  • As well as Show status becoming Home insight settings, the rather ugly Manage location/members has become Location settings.

  • The Virtual home has been moved from the top of the How to use page to the icon box on the Menu page. I think that is a reasonable thing to do.

  • If you value the screen real estate over Routine categories, you can turn them off using the Category option in the Routines page menu. The categories aren’t stored in the Routine metadata so they are presumably a client app setting. I can’t tell if they are per user at the moment. I’ll have to see where they are in the API.

  • The QR Code page now gives an option to share a Wi-Fi profile and lists all the devices that the invitee will be able to use.

However …

  • The hub failover for hub groups has been titled Auto hub backup which to me seems a poor choice.

Timer/Scheduling before/after:

I think that now they have the Daily routine option they ought to expand the Create routine menu to choose between manual, automatic, daily, template, and Smart Lighting routines, rather than leaping straight into the basic ‘if … then’ with an incongruous link to create a daily routine lobbed on.

They can then replace the separate link to the Discover page with a link for proper SmartApps.

They should also give the page back the Automations name, especially given that’s what it got called in the app release notice.

Yesterday my Home Insight Dashboard was showing six icons as two rows of three and looked quite neat. I was wondering what would happen when a new icon activated. Turns out there are still two rows but the icons are smaller and now it doesn’t look so neat. The icon positions also appeared shuffled because they move down and across, which would be fine if it wasn’t inconsistent with everywhere else in the app. I’m now wondering how it handles nine active icons.

SmartTags have extra icons for cats and dogs that I don’t remember seeing before.

I see that it is possible to swipe between Rooms again. It isn’t something I tend to use as it too easily conflicts with the various system level swipe gestures. It really ought to be on a toggle.

Now it’s possible to turn off device’s notifications

In the notification list, it is possible to check, which devices’ notifications have been masked.
It’s also possible to remove masking from the notification list.

Does anyone knows how to delete a Routine Category after creating one?
