SmartThings Android app 1.8.29.24 (March 2025)

Home Insights is finally fixed!

They’ve also fixed the installed SmartApps on the Routines page. No applause for that. It is key functionality that has been unavailable for several months. They have to provide a viable alternative to the mobile apps for SmartThings.

The broadcast to a speaker option could be vaguely useful I guess, though I don’t get offered it on my Home Insights dashboard.

Best feature is that when you choose the Information option on the Device Details page you now get some useful Information.

There is probably some other crud related to Samsung services but I never use any of those apps.

I like that I can see Zigbee mesh routing  (or did I miss that in earlier releases).

It was hinted at in the offline diagnostics but it wasn’t on the details page. I’m not really sure why it isn’t on the Information page or in the options somewhere, if indeed it should be there at all rather than in the AWA.

I’ve been pulling the info from the API for a while now but it seems to be rather rate limited.

Home Monitor seems to have changed its tile colours. Instead of all three being white on blue, the armed states are green on pale green, and disarmed is grey.

Are you able to use the “Smart Lighting” routines found under the “discover” option on Routines?

I still can’t add, open or edit Smart lights rules.

Yup - same here. And I reported the issue already.

It still seems to be working OK for me.

I got this for two devices, including one of my three Ikea praktlysing blinds.
Coincidentally, this was the one nearest my hub but with the worst battery life (I did swap batteries between blinds but the problem stayed with the blind rather than follow the battery).
I interpreted the problem rendering the connection path as meaning the connection path was less than ideal, which may have contributed to my battery life problem.
I deleted the problem blind from my network; powered off many of my lights; re-added the blind and it now has a ‘normal’ connection path.
I will see if this improves its battery life.

Just to check in case I hadn’t tried a complete reinstallation, I deleted a Sonoff temperature sensor, pressed the reset button to put it into pairing mode, and now I only have one Zigbee device not showing a path.

Unfortunately this is because the reset button snapped off the circuit board and now I need a new sensor.

Where? Screenshot would be great.

I think I have read somewhere on this forum that the SmartThings hub will build a new mesh if it has been taken offline for several hours. I have never tried this. Never needed to.

It’s not several hours, but just 20 minutes for your Zigbee mesh. I usually wait 30 minutes.

I’ve not done it for a while, but now that this is available I may do it this weekend.

Interesting.
Not showing for me on 1.8.28.21, and no update beyond that version showing on play store.
Maybe it’s regional, maybe I need to wait longer.

My play store just got updated to 1.8.9.24 zigbee routes now showing. Some of the routes looking a bit odd to me as in they have hops which go further away from target. For example I have a motion sensor in kitchen which goes hub->socket->motion sensor. I have a smart light switch in the same room (physically closer to smart socket) which routes hub->socket->front lamp->light switch.

This second scenario seems sub optimal since the path socket->front lamp routes further away and through a brick wall. Currently working though, so may be best to leave it alone and not risk tweaking it.

I finally got this update too.

The Zigbee routing information is a really good addition.
