I’ve been using smart lighting for years to automate some simple stuff like having lights turn on and off based off of motion.
In the past week or so it started to not work very well and in the past 2 days I’ve noticed that it’s just straight up does not work.
If I go look at my smart lighting the setup is still perfect. If I look at the motion sensor I can see motion is detected and the lights are just not turning on.
Anyone else seeing this behavior?
Any ideas?
Funny story, the lights just turned on, 5 minutes late. It says motion was detected 5 minutes.
SmartLighting is most certainly NOT working. If you think that it is working it is because previously entered SL routines are still running… but try and edit an existing routine or add a new one and you will see the problem.
The SL ‘app’ seems to be working fine for me (Android app, UK) and it allowed me to create a rule which worked correctly. I thought it was perhaps spinning a little more than I recall, but I haven’t used it for a while.
Hmm, it’s working for me in Canada, and @orangebucket in the UK, but not @Paul_Oliver in the US. Are we sure this isn’t an anti-tariff plot by someone?
But seriously, I just successfully created and saved a new SL routine in my SmartThings for Android. It should run tonight. I’ll check the light history in the morning to see if it turned it on and off and report back.
I went old school and unplugged my SmartThings Hub and plugged it back in and now everything is working fine.
“Have you tried turning it off and on again” - somehow, it’s always the right answer
Nope - I wouldn’t mark the turn it off and turn it back on again as a solution. It most definitely does not solve my problem. Like I said, I haven’t been able to edit or add a smart lighting routine for months, but the ones that exist work fine.
I’m in the US (west coast) in case it’s location based.
I’m having this problem also. The smart lighting routines are running fine but when I try to edit or create a new one I just get the four spinning dots. It was doing it when I was running Android 14 and it is still doing it now that I updated to Android 15 on my Samsung S23 Ultra and Samsung Tab 10 Ultra. I tried clearing the cache but that did not help.
Has there been an resolution to this issue? I have two locations, one has 3 hubs: V3, V2 and a SmartThings Station. I’ve powered them off (for over 30 minutes), reset my phone running (1.8.34.21), etc. Just spinning icon when I try to add a Smart Lighting routine. I have a second location with just a V3 hub, when I try that location… boom right into adding a routine. Back at my primary location: I’ve tried powering off my V2 and SmartThings Station and just using my V3, since the devices I want to control are on the V3, but same result… just a spinning icon. Tried my old Note8 that runs an older version of ST’s (1.8.07.23), same thing just spinning when I try to create a routine.
Well, that was a good idea, but it didn’t help. I did have about 20 devices hidden. Put them back and rebooted my hubs after leaving them off for over 30 minutes. Still just a spinner when I try to add a Smart Lighting routine.
Select the time period and confirm - In this step, please select “Until turned off”, once the team finishes, we’ll let you know so you can disable it again.
