I’ve talked to three customer service folk the last time this happened, and had various emails. They could never explain the error and told me each time my local store (there isn’t one) didn’t have stock and when pressed to ship from another they all said they couldn’t. I think I’ve just had bad luck with them. One guy said they didn’t accept discount coupons online…like at all. He must have been new.
I ended up being in Denver and stopped in and was able to get the last 40% deal, but no long road trips in the plans right now.
Home Depot on the other hand, has been great with shipping from other stores if needed. It’s all a matter of who you get, I just don’t have the time to keep trying!
Echo website now says they support these thermostats.
NEW THIS WEEK
Sensi and Echo
Alexa warms up
Alexa now works directly with the Sensi thermostat from Emerson. In addition to the ecobee thermostat, you can use the Sensi thermostat to raise, lower, or set a target temperature—just ask. Visit our Smart Home Store to learn more about devices and hubs from brands like Wink, SmartThings, and Insteon, which let you control lights, switches, and thermostats with Alexa.
To control your thermostat with Alexa, go to “Settings” in your Alexa App, click “Connected Home,” and link your device.
We’re getting close and these are on sale in Amazon for $99., so someone tell me to buy this.
it can be confusing, no question. Sensi does integrate with Echo. So does SmartThings. But SmartThings doesn’t integrate with Sensi.
If you only want to control the thermostat by echo, fine, you can get the Sensi.
But if, for example, you wanted SmartThings to automatically change the thermostat based on SmartThings knowing that you left the house, you could do that with a CT100 but not a Sensi.
There was just an official blog article this week, any thermostat that does integrate directly with SmartThings can now be used with Echo.

I will confirm this for you.
I’m using two Honeywell Zwave 8320 thermostats. They integrate seamlessly with ST.
Alexa sees them both through the ST Alexa app.
I can fully control them via ST and smartass such as rule machine AND I can tell Alexa to adjust the temperature, and she does.
The only limitation I have found, and I think this is for all of them, is that Alexa does not adjust the temp properly when the thermostat is in auto mode. She also does not change the modes.
You should use resources outside this particular thread before making purchase decision. As I stated earlier, there was plenty of info in the community- had you bothered you would have known that. Holding others in this thread accountable is a bit ridiculous.
heads up to anyone trying to order stuff from the Lowes lightify sale and unable to. You can call wallmart.com and get a price match on the item, as long as they have it in stock. Just did that for the lightify cabinet starter kit, took about an hour over the phone but at least I was able to order it.
To echo the above statement, You can do the same at Homedepot. Also, if you go into Home Depot with the Lowes ad, you will get price match plus a 10% discount, because they promise to beat the price by 10%
Echo Dot $89.99 preorder instructions for non- echo users
From lifehacker…
Some Android and iphone users are having luck using voice commands. Tap the microphone button in the Amazon app, then say, “Add Echo Dot to Cart.”
That should take you to your shopping cart. If it’s not working in the main Amazon app, give it a try in the Amazon Underground app instead.
About dark garages… sometimes IMO we are tempted to over -complicate these things, all in the name of research of course . Almost all garage door openers for the past 15 years come with motion-sensing lights built in, and those lights come on automatically any time the opener is operating. Seems to me the truly smart thing to do is to let it work as designed.
