let’s start with - Do you remember if you migrated your SmartThings account to a Samsung account? if yes, that may make things easy and I would suggest installing the ST app and logging in with your Samsung account. Check if your hub shows in the app.
If you didn’t migrate to a Samsung account… reply back.
I am/was in the United States and signed into my Samsung account and it shows SmartThings under apps and services. Used same account to sign into the SmartThings app and there is no devices listed. Tried to add hub but it’s asking me for a welcome code I don’t have.
Other than that I don’t see where where I migrated.
Last SmartThings email was October 15th 2020
Subject: Thank You! Partially reading “See you soon in the new app!”
The day before email
Subject: Hurry! SmartThings Classic will be discontinued tonight!
The welcome code is easy to get. Post in the following thread and list the serial number of your hub. ST staff generally reply to you with the code when they are available. also check the inside of the battery compartment cover
Does anybody know if it’s possible to get the data from The hub without supports help? They replied that it can’t be done and I need to reset and lose all my settings saying “There is no way to back up the information. Accounts that were not migrated lost access, and for data privacy reasons, it is not possible to recover the information”
What if your time was severely limited and you had hard time setting up all the devices in the first place, especially the zigbee light bulbs? Not to mention all the routines..
Sadly just decided to sell my home so time is the issue…
If there really is no way to get the old un-migrated settings from the current V2 hub with or outside of ST support then I guess my options are:
Reset V2 hub and start over, get a V3 hub and start over or switch to a different system?
I have Z-Wave wall switches and zigbee light bulbs. No thread/matter devices
I’m not completely against buying more hardware, but from what it seems the V3 hub has its issues in comparison to V2 I already invested in
I have plenty ethernet connections and if I remember right, I helps if I put the hub on a cat5 extension to go around to different devices when I add them. Not doing this may have been my issue at beginning of install
I just want to get the equity out of my my installed smart home system
Your time replying to my issue is much appreciated!
From the details you have provided, I would recommend resetting your current V2 hub and starting over.
unfortunately, that is the SmartThings cloud services that is available to everyone with a Samsung account. It does not indicate a hub is installed. You have already verified the hub is not listed in the Advanced Web App for your account.
If your intention is to simply sell your house with a hub… just reset the V2. I would not go through the time or expense to go for another hub… whether ST or other brand. It sounds like your current devices are 5+ years in age so I would not expect your Realtor to price much into the Sale price of the Home.
If you are looking into a hub for your new Home… I would suggest the Aeotec hub over a V2. Or another platform is you opt to go that route. Only you can make that decision.
Rip the bandage off and reset your current V2 hub. There is probably nothing you can to do at this point.
Good luck!
tagging @nayelyz@Itati who can hopefully end your saga with an answer one way or the other about restoring data… I have the feeling you want that.
I will reset V2 hub, get new welcome code from support and start over
Just having home automation over comps in neighborhood might help to sell in tough market
@Itati already DM’d me to offer welcome code and said they had no way of restoring data. Just figured I would try here to make sure no 3rd party support/hack
