So started out this weekend setting up ST etc and all good, thanks to a lot of information in this community.
Using iPhones as presence sensors was a good laugh and this afternoon i picked up a Hue Light Bulb and following the information in this forum (Hue bulb without Hue Bridge?) managed to get it connected, use the motion sensor and have a good fun and laugh with my family…
it actually works very well… now my darling daughter wants the Color hue Bulb!
Not sure the family will continue with the laughing as you have now been bitten…
All your spare cash will be on stuff you can buy to automate even more.
Have fun though and as you have already alluded to, there is a wealth of knowledge here. (Not me obviously).
It’s all fun and games until somebody cashes in their 401K to get “just a few more” switches/door sensors/plugs/motion sensors/smart vents/garage door openers.
Welcome! If you want to look at some of the really fun and crazy stuff people have done, check out the “impress your friends” project reports list in the community – created wiki. Some of these are very practical, some are just for fun.
Kids tend to particularly like the “mood cube” where you put a multi sensor, which has an accelerometer, inside a cube and then you can make turning to each side of the cube control something different. Many people use this to change colors on a Hue bulb.
sigh I just went out and bought another full spectrum bulb for her stay next weekend. I even have Smart Lighting setup just for her (mainly nightlight).
