New Aeotec Home Hub 2 Won't Go Into Setup Mode

I Bought a new Aeotec V2 hub (AEOHUBV4US) serial number 3022001514 from Samsung’s website on 12/9/2025. Today, 4/27/2026, I attempted to unbox and install it. Hub will not go into setup mode (no alternately blinking green/red LED). Hub cannot be factory reset. When holding reset button and plugging in the power cable, LED blinks green for about ten to fifteen seconds, stops blinking for about a second, resumes blinking green for another ten to fifteen seconds, then turns and stays solid red. If the internet cable is connected, attempting the reset ends with the same sequence as above but ends with a sold blue instead of red LED. LED never changes to yellow when attempting a reset. I unplugged the unit and left it unplugged for fifteen minutes and retried resetting the hub, with no change in results. Is my unit DOA?

is the ethernet cable plugged into the hub and connected to your network?

Blue is the new green!

If the LED is solid blue, the V4 is up and running and connected to the Internet/cloud.

Now it’s time to add it to SmartThings: app → + → add device → Samsung → Hub → …

Or just search for “hub”:

I just remembered that the hub could be already claimed or came preconfigured.

@Andreas_Roedl @jkp thanks for your quick responses. It is my understanding that the internet cable connection is an option, just like Wi-Fi is an option, that can be used when setting up the hub with SmartThings. In either case, it is my understanding that the hub should be able to go into setup mode. In my case, the hub would not go into setup mode for a Wi-Fi or for an internet cable connection. In the app, when clicking the add device button and specifying the hub as the device being added, and after scanning the hub’s QR code as requested by the app, the app indicates that the LED on the hub should be blinking green/red to indicate the hub is ready to be added, and the app will not move to the next step in the setup until it gets notified by the hub that it is ready for setup, and the app eventually times out because it does not get that notification. This scenario is why I attempted to reset the hub to see if that would fix the problem of not being able to onboard the hub but the reset would not work as stated in my original post. A factory reset should just work! Also, though I did not mention it in my original post, I had looked to see if the hub had been silently onboarded by doing a search for the hub in SmartThings, but it was not present in SmartThings. I did notice that the hub appears in my router’s client table when an internet cable is used to connect the hub to SmartThings but the hub is not present in SmartThings. As far as I can tell, it is not being added to SmartThings because the hub is not going into setup mode to allow itself to be added. So SmartThings servers don’t seem to be coming into play. If there is something going on in the backend of SmartThings with regard to any pre-configuration of this hub, I would be at a lost to know what it is.

It’s in setup mode right after resetting the device and the LED is blinking red/green:

Here’s the reset procedure, just to be sure:

So maybe keep pressing the reset button longer?

Thanks @Andreas_Roedl but I had already reviewed the meaning of the LED status lights and had already reviewed the reset procedure, referencing the same info you’ve provided here. I had held the reset button for as long as 10 minutes. Maybe I’ll try for even longer. Perhaps @nayelyz might be able to offer some insight. Thanks again for your time.

Hi, @BugzyB
I suggest you contact SmartThings Customer Support.
If the hub isn’t really able to reset, it might be due to a hardware issue, so they should be able to escalate the issue for investigation and confirm it. If that’s the case, they can provide the info for a replacement (if possible).

I looked for the serial number, and indeed, it shows up as “Unclaimed”.
These are the instructions for the report:

I tried the hub factory resetting procedure about seven times consecutively. I could never get the hub to exhibit the expected reset behavior (no yellow LED), but on about the seventh reset attempt, the hub did finally go into setup mode (blinking green/red LED). It quickly onboarded to SmartThings and updated to firmware 60.12. Using the thread management setting, I then easily added the hub to the same thread network my three other SmartThings hubs are joined to. Everything was very easy once the hub got into setup mode. Getting there should not have been so difficult, so frustrating. Again, thanks everyone for your assistance.
