My Contacts - is it back?

Welcome back Tim @slagle  or maybe @aaron what do you guys think?

Update: sloved the issue causing the ā€˜missing’ SHM push notifications. The long story short, the push notification is linked to the user email not phone number. And by having multiple phones logged in with the same user id, only the first phone gets the push.

This seems like a horrible idea and I hope it isn’t intended . So if I own an iPad and a phone and want ST on both, but happened to have made my iPad account first. my phone won’t get an SHM notification? I’ll have to test this myself.

Yup, see if you can validate, but that was definitely my finding yesterday… @gausnes

ST support told me each device needs a different userid/logon to avoid issues, YMMV

Rick

As a data point I’m running 3 devices with the same login. I get pushes on all of them, but I’m planning on testing what Bobby reported with SHM later today.

I still haven’t reinstalled it… Y’all let me know when it’s fixed please…

In the mean time I’m gonna be over here trying to configure all if my CoRE and askAlexa installs.

Custom instance…

I’m pretty sure this is exactly how it should work and your case explains why. If it used phone numbers for push, a wifi only ipad wouldn’t be able to get them right? Sure you can set your ipad up to receive all of your texts from your phone, but if it’s one you have mounted on the wall, do you really want it getting all of your regular phone texts all the time too? By setting up a different account, you can get the notifications that you set up to get with Smartthings.

Sorry, I wasn’t clear. I agree it should be set up by email. But it is an issue if I selected to get push notifications set to ā€œmy contactā€ which is logged in on my iPad and my phone, but it only goes to one. Maybe I misunderstood the issue?

You should have a second contact as your ipad. Each device should be a different contact. For example, do you need to be notified on your ipad if it’s mounted on the wall that someone has arrived or left, but you probably do on your phone? This way you can prevent the ipad from getting a text or notification that it’s happened. I think this was them thinking ahead on how people would use wall mounted devices. Thinking each family member is a separate email. In the future if they ever separate having full access and just control access, this set up would come in handy.

I understand your point and it’s a valid one. However if I’m choosing to log into multiple devices with the same credentials and want to receive the same notifications on those multiple devices, I should be able to. I believe he said that isn’t working for him.

You could be confusing the system as well if you are setting up each device as a presence sensor. It’s your choice. I’m just saying there is a way that works and one that obviously doesn’t.

Is this not working again? I upgraded my second hub from a v1 to a v2 and now I can’t get my contacts to show up again.

Mine appears to still be there

I enabled contacts but when you go to My Contacts and click on a contact the phone number show is different but the notifications still work. If you edit the contact, the phone number shows a different country code. This is ST on iPhone. Anyone else seeing this?

Yeah, mine is the same…if I look within the Smart things app on my iphone at one of my contacts that I previously edited, the phone number looks incorrect because of the country code…yet if I go to my laptop and login to the Smart things API webpage, view my Contacts List, and then view the same contact, the phone number is formatted correctly and notifications are working fine. It’s a little annoying to see the ā€œdisplay/formatting bugā€ when viewing the contact in the app so I just stay out of the apps contacts and use the web page.

Does this still work with the new app? I try doing it via the ide page but get page not found.

I just set it up, it is case sensitive, Contacts not contacts.

Thanks. Didn’t realize this.
