Hub offline

Yes I unplug and remove the batteries. I also tried pushing the reset button, but that did nothing.

I donā€™t know whether to be relieved or scared reading this thread. I just installed my hub for the very first time about an hour and a half ago and Iā€™ve been getting nothing but notification after notification of my hub going offline. Having nothing to compare it to, I thought maybe it was my hub, or worse yet just normal.

Mine too. First day I was like ā€œok these things happenā€. Second day ā€œnot againā€. Please donā€™t make it a third day

It is nice that local event are still working.

So what should be working locally? My GE Link bulbs are not controllable via. the app or via. z-wave remote controls. Z-wave switches cannot be toggled either. Not much local control at this pointā€¦

Thereā€™s no definitive list published as yet. But the community created wiki has the links where you can check exactly which device types and which smartapps on your own account are eligible to run locally:

Well, Iā€™m back online.

I issued a reboot from the web interface, as well as power cycle.

GE link bulbs are not officially supported devices, even though they may run locally. Anything that is zigbee or zwave and officially supported device type and used via Smart Light app runs locally. If they donā€™t, contact support as most likely something is not working right with your system.

I pushed the red button on the hub and I am back tooā€¦

I am back up too

Iā€™m still out, solid blue light. Havenā€™t tried to reset yet.

For those having outages today, is your hub v1 or v2? I have v2. My buddy has v1 and has had no problems today or recently.

mine went offline too. rebooted hub and itā€™s back online.

Outage has affected v2ā€¦hhereis an update received from STā€¦

New Incident Status: MonitoringUsers with inactive v2 Hubs will need to perform a reboot by pushing the button on the back of their Hub in order to get it connected again. Please note that it may take 5-10 minutes after performing a reboot for the Hub to reconnect. We apologize for the inconvenience. SmartThings will continue to monitor the situation.

I donā€™t even bother with the batteries. I keep the Hub on an APC and remote power off for 15 minutes. But Iā€™m in the same boat as everyone else, another brutal outage.

Back on after power/battery recycle.

Well, ā€œme tooā€. Second time in 3 days. Sheesh.

I guess I should have checked here sooner! v2 hub here. Just installed less than a week ago so this is my first outage experience. Although it worked for me, I donā€™t like the idea that a hard reset was necessary. I might have been out of town and unable to physically reset it. @Kristopher do you mind sharing more info on the APC model you have with the remote power off capability? Iā€™d appreciate it.

Iā€™m new to HA in general and Iā€™ve got to say Iā€™m not impressed so far. This isnā€™t just in reference to ST. My Canary cameras havenā€™t been working properly since yesterday either! Canaryā€™s system status page doesnā€™t even mention the problem but support responded to my ticket and said itā€™s a problem they are aware of and their engineers are working on it. < sigh > Looks like I may not have the assurances I wanted from these two systems while away during holidays this year. I just might return it all and go the old fashioned route - have friends check on everything for us while weā€™re gone! :disappointed:

I started a thread with my suggestions on some ways to handle this within the software, if anyone cares to share their thoughts or has a scenario I didnā€™t touch on - Iā€™m certainly looking at this from my perspective and background so other points of view are welcome.

Me tooā€¦ v2 hub. agree ST needs to update the firmware so the hub tries to heal itself when disconnected.

Woke up this morning to a dark house - I use automated lights as part of my alarm. Hub is offline. I have been trying to reconnect the hub for the past 20 minutes. Hopefully this gets resolved soonā€¦
