I recently purchased a Smartthings Station hoping I could connect all my devices to it.
Unfortunately, my Orleans Convector won’t show up while I try to connect them. They are listed as compatible (through Zigbee).
I tried everything I could: resetting my Convectors to factory, as well as the Smartthings Station, turning off the breakers and wait for at least an hour, nothing worked unfortunately!
I search through the posts of this community and the ones I found were old and were presenting a web link that isn’t working anymore.
A little help from any of you would be appreciated
Thanks a lot in advance!
Steve
Indeed, they are listed.
The Convector won’t show up on the Smartthings Station while they are both in pairing mode.
On the Convectors themselves, some of them end up with an Error message, others are locked on channel 25 (which is the channel of my Station, wierd?!?). I do not know what else to do :-S
to see the channel used by the Station, go to the Advanced Web app, in the hubs section, tap on the name of your hub and scroll down to the zigbee section.
I knew that as I followed the Stelpro instruction manual, as well because Smartthings app reminded it to me. Still, the Station won’t find the devices.
Thanks jkp for helping me, I really appreciate
To answer your question, I brought the station next to all of my Convectors.
Still doesn’t work!
I even tried to use my router’s 2.4GHz signal (turning the 5 GHz off) just to see if it could make a difference, but in vain!
Update: I decided to reset my Smartthings Station and it is now looking for Zigbee devices on channel 20. When I did reset the Convectors afterwards, they all connected on channel 20. This means they communicate with the station, but the problem is they never show up on my Smartthings app while trying to pair them!!
Bu Andreas, thank you for helping me! Screenshots won’t help you unfortunately. Here are some nevertheless. As mentioned, the Smartthings app is looking for the devices without findings them, while both the station and the covectors are in pairing mode. And strangely, the convectors hook by themselves on channel 20, which is the Zigbee channel of my Smartthings Station.
If I go in the convectors menu #1, which is the one to activate the zigbee radio, it is locked on 20. If I reset the convectors and try to pair them again, they search for a little while and than lock again on 20. As for the station, the channel specified is 20 under the advanced settings on the my.smartthings.com. So that you know, it was on channel 25 before I did a hard reset of the station. The convectors were then connected to the channel 25.
where are you seeing channel 20 for these devices? You can see it in the image I posted earlier today (see conversation with Andreas_Roedl).
In the advanced web app or elsewhere? I can see the channel my Smartthings Station is using when I go to the Advanced Used section (three dots in the upper right corner) on the my.smartthings.com webpage. Again, see the image posted earlier int the conversation with Andreas_Roedl.
Now, here are all the steps I follow and what happens.
First of all, I have reset all my devices multiple times (at least 3 times already): Convectors, Smartthings Station (pressed the little button underneath with a pin), Smartthings App (wiped cache and data, uninstalled and reinstalled).
Once all devices are reset, I start the pairing process:
I go to each of my convectors and go to Menu #1 and enable the Zigbee connection. The convectors then try to connect (“on” is flashing).
In the meantime, I press the “+” button on my Smartthings app, go to the Stelpro list and select Stelpro Orleans Convector (so that you know, I tried all the other options without success).
At this point, the convectors and the Smartthing app are looking for each other.
This is where the convectors get stuck on number 20 (it stops flashing and the number 20 appears on the convectors’ display), which means they are connected to my underestanding. The problem I am facing is that nothing is showing on my Smartthing app. No convectors have been added. It is like that on my app, it is also like that on the my.smartthings.com web page.
So, this is what is happening. All my convectors lock their Zigbee radio on the Smartthings Station’s channel (20 since the last reset), but the Station does not show them to me.
Additional info: every reset I’ve done of my Smartthings Station is accompanied by a new Zigbee. Now it is 20, before it was 25. When it was 25, all my convectors then locked their Zigbee radio to channel 25. Two resets ago, the channel was 24 and all my convectors then locked their Zigbee radio to channel 24. And so on!
But none of my convectors appeared on my Station (Smartthings app and web page).
I don’t think I can be more precise then that, sorry.
I’ll give it a few more tries, but I might just as well return the Station and get another brand.
Last info: I’m a Samsung guy, I own a Samsung TV, SoundBar, Tablet (TabS7) and cellphone (S23 Ultra).
Thanks Andreas! But it didn’t seem to work.
I’ll try later, make a few more tests.
I responded to jkp and gave him the most detail I could.
It might help you, but I doubt it.
As I was saying, I might return the station and get another brand.
Thanks again for your help!
