Creating a ST account not Samsung

Lol I’ll bet he/she didn’t see you type that last post!

Ya I will be curious as to what the workaround is. I can’t believe more people haven’t screamed about this. It doesn’t impact me as I use the same account on all my devices, two phones and two tablets. The two tablets are primarily for ActionTiles but I still have the ability to login to ST via primary account on those. Didn’t have a reason to add a user. My cat sitter has an arrival sensor that disarms system and entry code for Yale lock and then she has access to the ActionTiles panel when she walks thru the door

i’m guessing the majority of people create other accounts for their significant others, kids, etc. close to when they created their own. Not many people created theirs before May of this year and then others after May of this year.

Yeah, this is crazy, I had this happen 2 months ago and I figured they would have fixed it by now. I have seen other posts about this, but go figure now I cannot find any of them. I 100% agree that i am surprised other have not complained. Anybody that has an ST account and tries to create a new user now will have this issue.

Yeah, I created all mine prior to may. But now I Have this new tablet for ActionTiles and and don’t want all the notifications on this one considering I Have one in the kitchen. Right now I just here bing from the living room and bong from the kitchen. Kinda annoying, I guess I could just turn off the volume for now, but that kinda a work around that should not be necessary.

But I was in that account migration beta too and so my ST login was converted to a Samsung account and I still get the same issue as you. I think this is the way that they have split that login into two different paths and the invitation code isn’t taking that into effect. There is nothing that the url they provide in that invitation code is doing to present the Samsung screen any differently than if you were simply logging in. It’s totally ignoring everything in the url path.

Don’t install the ST app on the tablet. There’s no need for it. Just have ActionTiles on it.

Wow, I’m at the wrong place! Light it up!

This guy just added another User without an issue. Posted about 10 minutes ago.

Jason,

I figured it out (not a fix for you but the source)

So when we participated in the account migration beta, a new location was added to all of our accounts. If I login to IDE I see both my original location with everything and the new Home one which I renamed to zHome (it has nothing in it and no hub).

So I just switched my location in the SmartApp to be zHome and sent an invite to my other email address. Logged into my laptop and accepted invitation and logged in via the web. Sure enough, if I look at locations logged in under that account I see zHome.

Went back to ST App and that user shows.

So even though I login to my Samsung account now, the original Location must have something stored somewhere that it was originally created under SmartThings, while the bogus Home location that got created was created under the Samsung account.

Lol what a cluster f! Break out that bong in the kitchen.

So Jimmy is half right, but I think it’s based on Location (created on account) versus being on Samsung account now that we have been migrated. The pointer for our original Location created prior to may has some other identifying factor back to SmartThings.

But what you posted in that last post that you don’t want to receive any notifications on the tablet that you are running ActionTiles on, I don’t know why you even need to bother installing the ST app on it. You have ActionTiles, no need for the app if you have ST app on other devices already. It was a fun journey tracking this down though.

So now after sending like 5 invites for the original Location, when I first login or toggle between the two locations in the Smart App when you first select the Hamburger from the Dashboard page I see in big bold red text “Not enrolled” right next to Notifications. It’s there for a fraction of a second and disappears, but I can repeat that each and every time now.

You gotta love this system, lol.

It’s a love / hate relationship.

Yes, it absolutely is.

New development. So support got back to me and basically said to create the samsung account all will be good. So I created the account and I was able to accept the invitation from St. I was then able to create the contact in my contacts. Then I noticed on the new contact that the push address was some weird id, so figured that was because I did not use the new account on the tablet. So I went home at lunch and tried to use the new account to log into the tablet. When I did that it takes me to some weird page telling me that I need to either use samsung internet or chrome to log into the app of which I have both installed. So I tried again, same issue. I tried with my normal ST login worked perfect.

So here we are I have everything created but I cannot log into the tablet with the samsung account. Any ideas?

I believe this is the same message others are receiving.

Is this the “Is Optimized for the following browsers” message?

Is this what you are getting?

Yes, that is exactly it…

Yes, that is the one.

yup, the Samsung Login page doesn’t like certain devices/browsers. Is this a Fire tablet? I couldn’t get any browser to work with their page on my Fire Tablet.
