Bloomsky Weather Station

Thanks, that explains it. I was wondering why it has " been raining" the last couple mornings/ I never thought about it being dew.

Does anyone remember in the original terms that we needed to get 50 or so followers for 6 months? Has it been that long yet?

It was minimum 25 and not a requirement. The only requirement was to keep the station public for 6 months.

I still have the agreement:

You agree to maintain the BloomSky Weather Station by keeping it plugged into its solar power, on a stable wifi connection, and set to “Public” for a minimum of six months. If you are unable to maintain the BloomSky Weather Station for any reason within the 6 month period, you must notify BloomSky to make alternative arrangements.

You will make every effort to let your community know about your BloomSky Weather Station and that they can follow your weather through the free BloomSky app (available on iOS and Android). This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Using any communication channels including social media, email newsletters, and posting printed materials to notify community members/family/friends that you’ve now joined the BloomSky network.
  • Using the BloomSky Weather Station in curriculums and at events, as is relevant to your organization.
  • Educating friends/family/colleagues/interested community members about the free BloomSky app as the primary means for following your station and discovering others.
  • Try to have 25 or more community members following your weather station.

@cdmobile thanks for making me dig out the contract. Was effective Feb 11, so…time to make it private!

Thanks everyone for following me. This was a fun activity!

Was Feb 11 the signup date, the actual delivery date or setup date you got it setup and broadcasting ? Might be worth double checking . Don’t want to jump the gun by a couple days and break the contract.

I can’t be bothered to make it private. If the world wants to see the birds and planes flying over my house, lettum attit . I actually have a couple of the Boston TV meteorologists following mine ( that will soon be getting the Sky2 addon)

Yes :frowning: Would also be nice if you could limit BloomSky notifications to specific settings: I don’t want to be notified of every one of my favorites daily movie, but I would like to know when mine detects rain.

On the android version of the app you can turn off time-lapse notifications but not the rest.

Well you could turn off notifications via the bloom sky app and just have ST notify you of rain via the water sensor. I would also add to limit notifications to outside of prime morning dew times. :sunglasses:

Same here … both of mine are gonna be permanent public. Besides, I also have both of them on Wunderground.

Can’t wait for the Sky2 addon.

I too am coming up on my 6 months… and quite honestly I’m thinking of shutting it down. Other than the whiz bang of the picture and the time lapse, it’s really not that good.

Have to agree. As long as it’s sitting out there working, I won’t bother with it. But, it really has no useful purpose for me.

I love the time lapse and the water sensor. Other than that it is just ok. However, I’m on a replacement already and not out of my 6 months. I think the sun just baked the first one. It’s a neat device, but not worth the retail cost. I’ll leave mine public until it they stop replacing them if they fry.

I tried to reset my Bloomsky Wednesday evening when I was mowing (web chart showed data was invalid or something) but I didn’t see any LED’s light up after holding wifi button for ~8 sec.

Now it isn’t working (storming but it shows blue sky :unamused:), is there any way in the latest app(I’m using android) to see: last connection time, is it connected right now, current wifi signal strength ??? Anything to give me an idea if it is working??? Is it possible to force a new picture to be taken (I think it is always just the last 5 minute picture)?

Thanks in advance!

If you have it set up in ST, you can easily go in the device recent activity and see when the last update was. In the BS app, just open it, click on your device and under the picture it will say when it was last updated

Scroll down and it will show current battery level. I don’t think there is anyplace it should WiFi signal strength.

Thanks, I didn’t notice this earlier but mine says offline where yours has the update time.

This is about the BloomSky Channel on IFTTT…

It seems like the BloomSky channel in my IFTTT account gets disconnected and needs to be reconnected about every week or two.

Have any of you guys been experiencing this?

In my case, it may be related to the fact that the WiFi AP my BloomSkys are connected to is a bit lacking in stability and endurance, and needs to be rebooted quite often, but I wanted to throw it out here, just in case there’s something else going on.

Yes, but it probably more like monthly for me. It doesn’t seem to be related to my access point

quite annoying how I have to do this so frequently

So…any clue on your ends what’s causing it, or just a mystery like for me?

I think it related to changes that Bloomsky is making. It almost seems like the app is losing the credentials or a token.

Oh, are you talking about the BloomSky mobile app?

I’m talking about the BloomSky channel on IFTTT.

Not the IFTTT app either, but just how my IFTTT BloomSky channel keeps getting disconnected.
