Look at it this way. Your test of SMH in the event of a real problem passed.
I test mine every time I come home and the garage door opens
Contrary to what I thought was common sense, I had to also update the Service Manager, not just the DTH. Clearly, I don’t entirely understand what the Service Manager is for.
I’m not entirely convinced it’s 100% reliable now, but Lux values in ST are now changing much more often now that I’ve updated the manager.
And now I see I’m wrong.
Just checked, and my BloomSky didn’t show any updates in ST for five hours.
I think I’m seeing the same thing. It seems like data is getting through to BloomSky and WU, but definitely not updating in ST mobile app until i refresh the SmartApp manually.
Noticed the same thing this evening. From about 4:20 EST on…
loving this app! and thanks to this app I now have a good idea that the solar panel facing north without direct sunlight should be sufficient to keep my BS running. the first drop was day one I set it up and just set the BS on my deck with no solar. But now with the solar panel the battery drops every night but seems to charge to around the same amount during the days. hopefully my luck holds out!
interesting that even on day one starting from a higher charge it did not charge past around the same point as ever other day
How are you charting this, and is the code available?
This is using initial state. They provide a smart app to send sensor data from most sensors to smart things. I had to add a sensor value or two but it has battery for sure. They will store 24 hours of data free and for unlimited storage it’s $5 /month. I use it to track all my sensors.
all my bloomsky data over the past few days.
luminance seems more or less all on or all off but that does mean it could be used for sensing sunset I guess
What version of the App and DH are you on? Mine varies durign the day, I will not say it is accurate but it is more or less consistent so I can use it to trigger lights as I want. Example Kitchen lights come on with motion if Bloomsky lux is <3000. That gets those lights on when it is heavily overcast.
I agree that 3000 seems to be usable number for turning lights on/off . It seems to do a major jump to 3?00 from between 100-800, vice versa.
my device handler is 2.0.1 this chart is of course over several versions but I have been updating fairly quickly to the newest version
mine seems to goto about 2-4 at night and 3200-3400 or so all day… and the jump is very very quick. the two drops mid day seem to be the clouds covering the sun for a bit
Well I cant comment on a bright sunny day I dont live in the Pacific North West but I feel that way for the last week or so.
I’ve noticed two things since yesterday:
- Temp is not always being updated in the ST app. I often have to refresh it manually.
- I’m not actually sure the “water detection” tile works. It’s been raining alot here and while my BS has been almost covered in snow the “water” icon stays gray. Is this normal?
Thank for your great work!
I’d just like to say that THIS response is the info I needed.
“initial state” means nothing without context, and I would never have thought it was a reference to a web site. Hooray for complete answers!

I just started trying it out today
I have not been able to connect Bloomsky unit to the Bloomsky app for the week i have had it. Filled out the form last Friday so BS could manually set it up on the back end, but unit still shows as OFFLINE.
I talked to BS Support and they stated they will email me a fix tomorrow or next early next week.
I am on a Galaxy S4. Has anyone else successfully setup the BS unit with an S4?
Hopefully I won’t have to wait until 3/11 when I get my new S7 to have BS working…
