change WPA to WPA2 and also ensure your phone is connected to the SSID
I had this issue with dryer and w machine.
Change Wifi Name ( I am using just letters no number spec characters).
It works.
Like others I also struggled and waisted 10-15 hrs fixing the issue, what worked for me is changing the mobile and setting up the jet bot by my another android phone. Luckily I had 2 phones. Setup never worked with iPhone but it worked smoothly with android
Hey guys,
I have a same issue with Samsung soundbar Q900A. Tried everything from the thread:
- Changed WiFi name to consist only from digits (no special charachters)
- Used 2.4GHz network
- Turned off WPA3. Left only WPA2
- Switched off WiFi6
- Reinstalled Smartthings app
The issue appears on a stage of entering password to WiFi network - when I type it, nothing happens in SmartThings app (even no mask is visible). When I check the checkbox âShow passwordâ it shows âMaximum number of charachters exceededâ (even before I start typing anything).
I assumed that itâs just an invisible mask (invented by some insane samsung developer) and typed my password anyway. After I tap âConnectâ and waiting for 2 min - I receive 15-200 error.
Previously the soundbar was connected to another router and it took me eternity to find how to reset the network on it (you need to switch network off by holding ânetworkâ button for 30sec, and then switch it on by holding it another 30sec). Now this new error appear⌠Why itâs so hard?.. I should have chosen LG soundbar ![]()
UPD: after 10 more hours⌠Additionally to described changes on the router, I had to turn off on-mesh option (router TP-Link Archer ax23). After that I was able to enter WiFi password in SmartThings and connect soundbar to network.
Summarizing, itâs either SmartThings or Q900A problem:
- It doesnât support WPA3
- It doesnât support WiFi 6
- It doesnât support Mesh network
Quite odd for A-brand and device cost $700âŚ
same problem with ar conditioned Samsung wind free. Iâm using 3 unifi LR, the building has 11 ar conditioneds samsung and receive error 15-200 at all devices.
No special characters on the wifi name and password, working with wep2, the unifis working as mesh network.
Same problem with Samsung TV and Soundbar only. Air Cons are fine⌠tried reinstalling the app (after uninstall & reboot), changed Wifi security settings, created 2.4ghz only network⌠same error. Ridiculous.
when i first contacted customer support the first question they asked me was:
Is your Router more then 5 meter away from the washer?
The answer was yes
still had a -59 dBm signal witch is considered good.
they advised me to use a phone or a wifi extender to get it to the machine since my router was to far away.
I had a wifi extender laying around so hey why not.
Cloned my 2.4 Ghz network on my wifi repeater every device could connect except ⌠the washer.
After reading this topic i tried all of the above.
- WPA,WPA1,WPA2,WP3 and even no encoding FAIL
- changed wifi name to plain text FAIL
- changed wifi pass to only letters and numbers FAIL
- changed wifi pass to only numbers FAIL
Made a single 2.4 Ghz network ( smartphone and washer nothing else ) FAIL
Changed password to only letters FAIL
Changed password to only numbers FAIL
With the extender i have a signal of -18 dBm ontop of the washer.
witch is excellent but stil it would not connect
i payed 1200 ⏠for the washer (about a year old) and canât connect it to smartthings.
My TV witch is 7 years old connects to smart things without any trouble.
think i lost already like 10 hours on figuring this out.
I have never heard about the more than 5 meters from your wifi ever being mentioned before. So I find that slightly hard to believe that is the issue. (Probably opening myself for debates on that from others). ![]()
Ok, hopefully you have started by resetting your washer?
Here are the steps I have seen mentioned that have helped some but not all:
- SSID and password with no special characters or spaces in either
- WPA2 only (meaning WPA2/WPA3 probably will not work)
- 2.4Ghz only
- Phone needs to be on the same SSID
But it sounds like you tried all those. Skip the extender.
Are you using Android or iOS?
I have had the same issue and been trying to figure out how to fix it.
Support tried to convinse me, that my iPhone was the issue!!! It never was.
They also told me that it was my router. Again⌠it never was!!
I finaly deleted the âsmart thingsâ app and reinstalled it.
And i connected my washer with the app.
I found out that the app it self changed the wifi name.
Wrote the correct name and connected within two minutes.
I also ran into the 15-200 error when setting up my Samsung hw-q990b soundbar.
Strangely I initially set it up out of the box no problem at all. When I was mounting the soundbar below my tv it was unplugged for about 2 hours and when I plugged it in again it had lost the connection to SmartThings
I tried to reconnect to SmartThings and thatâs when I first encountered the 15-200 error.
Using the guidance and answers below I turned off wpa3 but that didnât work
I then turned of ipv6 and this finally allowed me to reconnect to the sound bar to SmartThings
I have eero pro 6 mesh network; everything (apps, iOS, soundbar, and eero are on latest firmware as of this post)
Thanks to all for the ideas that led to the fix. Posting in hopes some other poor sole finds a faster solution with our help!
If it helps at all, same problemâŚwoke up this morning and Jet Bot that has been working since Oct was offline. Tried resetting it, deleting it from ST but could not add it back.
Having trawled through various sites I saw the references to 2.4/5 GHz.
I have a mesh on Unifi and I just switched off 5GHz on the whole network config and I was then able to reconnect. Once the Jet Bot was reconnected I switched 5GHz back on and all seems ok again.
I canât say whether it is a Samsung issue or the WiFi config but hey, I got around it for now.
Changing 2.4 Ghz WiFi channel to low number (Ex. Channel â1â) fixed the issue. Usually the channel is defined autmatically on the router.
After inital connection was done, i changed it back to automatic.
Also the mobile phone should be on the same 2.4 Ghz network.
Clearing cache on SmartThings aslo may help.
3 things to check for anyone:
-
Check DNS is not being blocked - this was one issue for me, changed temporarily to routers default and that helped.
-
Check wifi router, is it in dchp table? - eg. if using ubnt, show blocked devices and make sure it isnât blocked. After a few reconnects, the MAC got blocked on the access point.
-
Tried using WPA2 and toggling off multicast seemed to help.
â Will update at some point in the future and do some testing if I have time
I had this error today a few times before i figured out the issue. The new refrigerator had already registered to my smartthings app, I was trying to register a device that apparently was already registered⌠it just hadnât been assigned to a room yet.
On the devices tab was a refrigerator that needed registered to use the features. BUT swiping to the next page showed a registered refrigerator that just needed to be assigned to a room. I pressed and held on the non-registered refrigerator, then edit to remove it. Then i went to the registered refrigerator and edited it to be in the correct room. Now itâs all set.
Wanted to post this in case anyone else missed such a simple thing and thought they needed to deep-dive into their network setup.
Hi, I captured a tcp dump of my soundbar when trying to connect o the Samsung services. The issue is not with the WiFi connection. The problem is that the device and and servers canât establish TLS connection. The soundbar rejects the samsung cert.
I have already updated the firmware of my Q700B to the latest available.
Is this the official channel to open support ticket to Samsung?
Iâm currently having this Issue with my Samsung Jet Bot AI +. Iâve tried Changing my SSID, Iâve set my Wi-Fi to WPA2, Iâve tried using a Hotspot and Iâve even changed my Router to a Google Nest.
unfortunately, the 15-200 code is the catch-all code for devices that did not connect and doesnât give any details on what that issue is. Every user may eventually discover a different solution to resolve the connection issue.
as noted throughout this thread, here are some options to try, which may or may be the solution for everyone:
- SSID and password with no special characters, mainly (space or - )
- WPA2 only (meaning WPA2/WPA3 probably will not work)
- 2.4Ghz only
- Phone needs to be on the same SSID as the device you are trying to connect it to.
- no blocking in place such as piholes, VPN or strict firewall policies
- try switching DNS servers i.e. if using your ISP, switch to Google DNS 8.8.8.8 or other DNS servers
- try using a different mobile device if you have one such as tablet or partnerâs phone.
it could be other solutions you may find that work in your case. Thatâs why the 15-200 is so hard to figure out for each individual userâs set up.
Just note: once you get your device connected⌠you can probably change any of the options noted above back to their original settings if you wish.
Hi JKP,
So far Iâve tried the following and it still didnât work.
SIMPLE SSID AND PASSWORD
SSID: SmartNet Password: GoldenDogs
WPA2 ONLY
2.4GHz ONLY
MY GALAXY PHONE AND APPLE IPAD WERE ON THE SAME WIFI
I set very low Firewall Setting on the Router
I switched the DNS to Googles DNS
I tried setting up with iPad and Galaxy phone Both did not work
have you tried resetting the jetbot?
also⌠contact ST support
