ZWave Repair/ Question on error messages in logs

Hello,

When I do a ZWave repair I get the following 2 error messages for one device.

  1. Failed to update route
  2. Failed to update mesh info

What exactly do they mean? This device is working. ZWave repair used to NOT show these error messages for this device and only started showing this, this week.

I just wanted to confirm that these messages mean something like communicating with this device is marginal or something like that.

If the device was having hardware failures, could it be that?

I recently changed the location of the hub and wondering if it is related to that. I moved it from the wall to the ceiling, which I was hoping to improve signal and not make the signal worse.

Hi @professordave, there’s no documentation per se by ST yet, but this discussion may help you understand some common messages: (look at post 4)

Moving the hub could have caused some of those messages. Also, if you consistently see the same device with the message regarding failed to update route, you’ll need to run a zwave replace or exclude/include.

I was running into a similar problem last week with two of my z-wave switches.

No matter what I did I couldn’t get the two switches to work. What I finally had to do was
exclude the switches and then re-include them into the network.

It looks like you may need to do this with your “Garage Z-wave Metering Switch”
