Xiaomi yi WiFi camera

I have blue iris profile change with ST Presence when I have Blue Iris 3.0. Updated to blue Iris 4 and Haven’t gone back to set it up again. For now I have " could not adjust blue Iris : (" message on ST hello, home.
To answer your question. No, this camera is just one of thousand cameras out there and no direct integration to ST. I bought it cause it’s cheap and I need one to play around.

It looks like they released a US version, selling them on Amazon now.

I just got the US version and the quality is actually better than my dropcam pro (which doesn’t look to ever be getting the 1080p firmware they promised). It has RTSP support and local storage, will be a great option if ST allows RTSP cams.

I have been using the Chinese version for quite some time now.
The image quality is UNBELIEVABLE for the price.

RTSP is only enabled via a hack and until very recently you had to downgrade the cam to an earlier FW version so that to make this happen. Now though it works even on the latest FW.

By the way, what is your FW? Also, is the voice prompt when setting the cam up in English?

Thanks

voice prompts were all English, firmware 1.8.5.1L last four digits 1658. I read RTSP was something that went away and came back, are you saying it is present in the most recent firmware? (I haven’t messed with it yet)

Hi there @Jonathan_McGuire,

RTSP was an option in very old firmware versions.
However, it is now available even on the latest “M” firmware thanks to a hack from a Russian guy.

Problem is, the feed is mpeg4 and cannot be directly utilized in Smarttiles, so a transcoding to mjpg is required.

One option would be VLC on a raspberry pi, but I am still fighting with the he command line to make it work. Also, if there are more cameras I guess the pi would not suffice resource wise.

A fully fledged pic or Mac running sighthound would be an option also if one wants to use the advanced face detection techniques as well.

If there is an easy way to integrate xiaomi ants cameras to Smarthings (with no additional hardware) that would absolute rock!

This really not a direct answer to your question but I use blue iris to integrate the camera for smarttiles also as motion sensor and record on ST mode change. You still need a computer to run 24/7

I just found out about this camera today, the Amazon reviews are great, I would love to see ST integration

I have 4 of these cameras, and at $30 a piece, they are great! Previously, I had the new Nest Cam, but wasn’t really impressed for the price ($200), so I returned it. However, I WAS impressed with the features of these for the price (pretty much a Nest cam without 1080p)

Just in case anyone is wondering, here is How to enable RTSP on any firmware and also How to fix the Timestamp

Also, just wanted to mention that I have the China versions and it works just fine for half the price ($30) of the US version on Amazon ($60). Only difference that I am aware of is that the US version has english prompts for the initial setup, but it is simple to do on the China version anyways.

Can you try and use the firmware of the english version? i belive they are the same camera phisically

It doesn’t work, others have tried the US FW on the China HW and it wont connect. I am not sure what they changed or did to prevent that. I am sure someone will figure that out.

So enabling ARTSP (which I don’t know what it means) allows you to integrate to Smartthings?

RTSP feed of the Xiaomi Ants Camera provides H264 output. This cannot be fed into Smarttiles. You have to transcode to MJPG so that to be able to utilize in Smarttiles. I am still trying to make it work (via VLC) in my Raspberry Pi 2.

BTW, can anyone provide a way to do that? What about CPU load? Would a Raspberry Pi 2 be able to handle a couple of cams?

Thanks

OK thanks, way over my skillset…

No, no do not be scared of the acronyms. It should be pretty straightforward to do. But, it does not work.

Hi guys

Just got the $30 china version of this camera from gearbest and I want to use it with Blue Iris. Can someone please confirm that it works with Blue Iris? Do I follow the process highlighted by artkrime?

Can I enable the RTSP on the firmware on the Chinese camera or do I need an American version to do that?

I just need to get it working in Blue Iris, not a samsung Smart tiles customer yet, may consider it soon but not yet.

You may wanna check this out.

RTSP can be enabled on both versions, I know for a fact it works on Chinese version fine . And, yes it does work with Blue Iris, I tried it out with an old PC but it didnt have enough power to record and stream using Blue Iris.

Hi guys,

I recently purchased a Yi home IP camera (China version). The camera worked great and exactly as it was supposed to do when i connect the camera with my android phone.

However, since i updated the camera firmware and app version yesterday, the camera could not work (it drives me crazy!). It can be connected to my phone app but the camera would turn off automatically after blue light (solid) for a few seconds. Here is a step by step detail of the error process that repeatedly happening to my camera:

i. Camera is turned on, yellow light blinked
ii. Then blue light blinked
iii. Solid blue light can be seen then
iv. After a few seconds, the light went off while a command in Chinese can be heard.

For your info, after the update and error above, I have reset the camera a few times and after configuring with QR code, the camera and app could always be connected but the camera would turn off on its own.

I have recorded a video and taken a few photos for your easy reference. I am just wondering if any of you have ever encountered this?

I am thinking of downgrading to factory firmware but i have no clue what, where and how to get to that.

Help

Which Android app are you using? Sounded like a setting in your app. Mi home or xiaoyi home?
You have 2 options really. Change the app or downgrade the firmware. Unless the camera is connecting to the network through your phone which I know the old app don’t have that option.

Edit: the firmware link is posted by @ktsi 2 posts above yours.
