Xiaomi devices on sale (buttons/sensors/cubes)

This is probably where that ‘doesn’t meet HA1.2 spec’ part comes in

I had information that tracked it as far as Canada Customs, but I don’t have any hand-off documentation past there.

I knew the risks when I ordered, so I’m not too upset about being out ~$20.

Gotcha… Perhaps Paypal can resolve, or you can do a charge back on your CC.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it just product error every once in a while. Seems iris products have that problem ofteni have read. I have about 13 different xiaomi sensors and all work great!!! One motion sensor might disconnect but has only happened twice and hasn’t happened since. I would say that they arent 100% accurate for all your motion. What I mean is if you walk in from of one and then again like 30 seconds later after it reset it might not pick up on the second motion. But haven’t had it give me any problems.
To be honest I have gotten 2 Samsung multi sensors and I get a lot more trouble from them. They love to go offline all the time.
For the price I’ll most likely go with ziaomi devices for most things. Would be nice if some of there other products could become comparable with smart things as well like their robot vacuum.

I’ve been inquiring about this, and I found out this week they’re developing Yeelight bulbs (white and RGBW) for the US (E26 socket, 120V, due in July), and they already have a SmartThings SmartApp lined up, just waiting on approval from SmartThings to publish.

This has been discussed quite a few times on the various xiaomi threads. You sometimes have to reconnect them to pair them ‘initially’, but a lot of people have confirmed that once they stay paired for the first 24h or so, they STAY paired. I’ve had great success using the catchall method and most of my devices (that have now stayed paired for days were paired once only…and with only one or two presses of the devices reset button.

What @Pbrain said plus one more advise from the forums is to continue and use short presses throughout the pairing process (while you save), I have not had drops since I started using this method.

I got these devices when they just started shipping last year, gave up due to pairing and dropping issues, only to resurrect them a month ago after reading about the successes people having here, sharing tips and best practices. I since ordered many more. These are very good devices - reliable, small, elegant, good battery life, good range. Not only these are not 'cheap", the switches, motion sensors, and door sensors are hands down better than competing products that cost 5 times as much. Even the pairing by now I nailed down to no more than 2-3 minutes per device and I do not use catchall.
The best tip I came across in one of the threads is to use the following sequence while paring: While near the hub (I am about 5 feet from it):1. Start discovery, 2. 3-4 seconds long press to reset (verified by long blue light followed bu multiple short ones), 4. short press after blue lights stopped blinking (verified by multiple short blue lights after) 5. repeat 4 until discovered and while saving.
If I don’t get to pair within a minute I restart the process. Avoid the mistake of long press after it discovered since it will reset the device after it started pairing process and will cause it to drop.

I picked up 2 buttons and pair them, but in SmartThings it says unknown device and I can assign it to anything. Whats the trick?

What process did you use to pair them?

What someone mentioned above…to constantly press the button until it showed up on smartthings. Prior to that i was trying to long press but had no luck.

Are you pressing button or tiny reset pin hole? Just want to clarify. So you got it to pair saying it’s a xiaomi button or a thing at first?

Did you install the Device Handler in IDE?

How Do i do that?

Hi All,

Pressing is nice…But this method works all of the time!

And here is the thread for Device Handler.

Grab the code from here: https://github.com/a4refillpad/Xiaomi/tree/master/devicetypes/a4refillpad/xiaomi-zigbee-button.src

Then read through this: FAQ: An Overview of Using Custom Code in SmartThings

Yup… got the response from their support last night. Oh well… My GearBest order is shipped so yay

Hi Dear,

It is one sensor for one part ,total 2 parts.

Thank you.

Best Regards,

So…by that math (if 1 sensor = 1 part, and this package contains 2 parts)…it sounds like they are saying that it’s two sensors…right?

I would agree. I’m in for qty 2 so we’ll see what comes. No extra ‘insurance’ that I could find. Stuck with Hong Kong Post at 7-30 days, DHL was 5x the price for 3-7 days.

Sweet! So, when they arrive, please post here, and hopefully I’ll remember what it’s about by that time.

Hah, that’s what happens to me when I order stuff from china… puzzled look on the face when a package arrives.
