WyzeCam interesting

Some MaxDrive info (from Facebook post).

Accepts 3.5" & 2.5" drives
Accepts hard drives and solid state drives
Up to 12tb
Ext4 format

The MaxDrive will use its own app for viewing data. It has its own video player. The app is called MaxDrive and is currently available in app stores.

MaxDrive can be used to backup Wyze Cam v2 and Wyze Cam Pan.
The camera needs a microsd card installed to backup files.

But this is the Wyze version not the generic version correct?

The picture from CES doesnā€™t show any Wyze branding on it. Will have to wait and see how they roll out the support.

What ever it will need Wyze permissions to access the camera. Without those permissions I canā€™t see it working.

Some more MaxDrive info.

Everything I see about this says ā€œbackupā€ not ā€œlivestream.ā€ Anybody seen anything different?

same. Iā€™m out until this can be used in place of an SD card. This doesnā€™t really help the use case of someone snatching an outside camera and running off with it since the video has to be stored to SD card first.

Well if WyzeCam is working on recording to the NAS drive, then I have high hopes for them to get this working.

Generic NAS recording is marked as ā€œmaybe laterā€ on their roadmap list.

If anyone is looking for a good outdoor mount for the V2, check this one out.

Kinda want to get a Wyze cam now just so I can turn it into a butter robotā€¦

You shouldā€¦ not just for the robot. The cams are great and you canā€™t beat the prices on themā€¦ plus, Butter Robot is awesome.

On sale for $13.20 (thatā€™s 20% off) until 6pm CST.

This does look like a pretty good deal. $20 for 2 open/close and 1 motion sensor is great. What are the odds that it can all be integrated into SmartThings?
