Why cant I turn on my Samsung oven with SmartThins app?

You have to enable remote control each time the oven is “rebooted”. So anytime the oven looses power you need to enable it again. As per the screenshot below. You hold down button 11 for 3 seconds. This permanently enables SmartThings support and stays enabled even after the oven looses power and comes back online. However, you will need to press button 11 once every time the oven looses power and comes back online to enable remote control functionality. (Turning it on remotely) And that is understandable, it does not seem very disability friendly having to enable it on every boot.

I don’t get this comparison…I had a remote-starting car, though if the temp went below -30F overnight, it wouldn’t remote start. I did once get called to reception by the office manager because my car had mysteriously started up on its own in the parking lot across the street from work. Discovered the remote had quite a lot more range than I thought, I turned it off from her desk and went back to work…

The remote start is wired so it won’t start in gear, and trying to put it in gear or tapping the accelerator without the key unlocking the steering wheel will cause it to turn off immediately. Though shortly after I had driven the car home from the dealership, I discovered that idling in gear…the parking brake wouldn’t hold it in place.

I miss being able to drive… I do wish for self-driving cars someday… worry about how I’ll get home on a dead smartphone someday… closest I came was where I had 2% left, and it died just as I was getting into the Uber…

Also, people can set timers on traditional ovens now… where it’ll start automatically the next day, ignoring that while it was waiting to turn on, a new lifeform came into existence and devoured whatever you had left in the oven to bake… what happens if it gets angry and breaks out of my oven and…

Better yet, is scheduling a self-cleaning oven to turn on when nobody is (supposed to be at) home…

So many times I would like to preheat my oven, on the way home or from another room in the house. I’m not putting food in it yet I’m just warming it up.
