I got an amazing deal on a modern forms ceiling fan, 60% off on a 52 inch fan that should work with Alexa, HomeKit, and SmartThings. (Not matter, but I’m OK with that.) I’ve needed a new one for about a year and a half, but had been waiting for a good sale. I was hoping for 40 or 45% off, but they had one color with the extra discount and only about 15 left in inventory, so I scooped it up. My guess is they’re discontinuing that color, but it will go fine where I want to put it.
Also, I bought an Aqara M3 matter bridge since it finally went on sale. I’m interested in seeing how the network management for all of my other aqara hubs works out. (I already have four.)
Let’s see, what else?
One new blue charm ibeacon because it was on sale and I needed another one.
Dog food. The good stuff on a 35% discount.
A couple of gift cards to places where I buy stuff anyway. Only a 15% discount, but that’s basically free money.
I was hoping for a sale on the Amazon echo hub, but it’s still at the original price…
Looked at some automatic sliding glass door openers and gate openers, but nothing in my price range.
Still debating whether I need another runlesswire click switch. (well, OK, I know I don’t need another one, But it is on sale. )
So that’s about it for me. Anybody else get anything good?
As I mentioned in the other Prime topic, got an Echo Show 8 (Gen 3) at $85 on Prime special (normally $150). With $15 AMEX credit for using points, trade-in my Echo Show Gen 1 and 2017 Fire TV for $8 credit, out the door with tax $78 (but paid for with AMEX points, so basically free).
Also, just decided to buy a couple of the Eve Energy Matter In-Wall Outlets. Only $35/ea so worth getting them to experiment and have some backups to my Z-Wave outlets that are over 6 years old now.
Bought four Eve Energy plugs, two Nanoleaf bulbs, one Nanoleaf strip, one Aqara FP2 and a Frient smoke detector in the last two weeks because I didn’t realize that Prime Day is a thing in Germany…
To compensate for my mistake I bought two more Nanoleaf bulbs for 15.50 € each (instead of 19.99).
I kept it small this year. Got some Tapo mini outlets to try out Matter and a ThirdReality motion sensor. I’ve loved their buttons (which I didn’t see on sale unfortunately) so have high hopes for it.
All 6 matter enabled: 5 of the Eve smart plugs (they capped me at 5, but the discount was good and they actually work with ST energy app), and the new Govee 42" fan with Matter, which will be the “experiment”. My other exploration for a new door lock was not needed at this time, so I held off, even if the discounts were good.
*Aqara FP2 - replacing my EP1 since i’m having trouble updating it and so I can use zones for automations in Home Assistant
*Echo Spot - actually ordered this a few days before prime since it was already on sale. pretty impressed with it
*Tapo C120 x2 - I’m slowly replacing my Wyze cams with Tapo since they are far more compatible with SmartThings and Home Assistant
*Eero Pro 6E node - I had been relying on my Echos to extend my Eero coverage, but they’re usually showing “experiencing issues”. So I used the Amex deal to get this 50% off.
*WD Red 8TB Red Plus x2 - I need to setup a NAS, so went ahead and ordered these. Still undecided on which NAS to buy, though. Leaning towards lower-end Synology, but they weren’t on sale.
*Anker MagGo Power Bank Qi2 - Damn kids keep stealing my power bank, so ordered another. Actually ended up ordering this through TikTok shop since I had a coupon to use
I purchased the Synology 923+ last year. I have been happy with it as it suits all my needs and has the option to expand in the future if needed. Find which model best fits your needs and get one. Black Friday is generally the best event to find them on sale.
Tapo Matter outdoor outlet to allow me to control the few exterior halloween and xmas decorations that need power.
Tapo Matter indoor smart plugs to control the indoor holiday decorations that need power.
3 pack of Sengled RGBW bulbs to replace my son’s smart white only bulb to let him play with colors in his room.
Now I need to see about the best way to let him actually play with the colors without installing smartthings. Have a spare Zooz Zen37 that will be the first attempt. Not sure if I can set clicks to step through colors with MC’s multifunction light driver…
