I really like the Ubiquity product line. I have four AP’s and the poe pro switch.
Unfortunately I read on thier forums that they have removed RTSP from the cameras.
They do h.264 but not RTSP.

Lorex/FLIR Is very common as they are very affordable and large retail stores such as Best Buy and Amazon carry them. They all support RTSP and H.264.
I have Ubiquiti cameras as well. You can still stream RTSP via the nvr device. In a future software revision, they plan to re-add RTSP direct from the cameras.
really anything under the 90$ will do, that stacks alot when u have to buy 8 cameras and 2 hubs
Please support Hikvision and Dahua cameras. They use RTSP (almost everything supports them between ONVIF and RTSP), they are cheap, reliable, and have much better outdoor cameras than the ones you are currently supporting. They have dozens of different cameras for every purpose between the two companies (outdoor/indoor, 2.8/3/4mm/variable focus, fixed/ptz, dome/bullet/drop). Since even vlc can view an RTSP stream, it seems like fixed focus devices with PTZ should be a no-brainer for any RTSP camera.

I use both brands in my house and they are great.
Is Netgear Arlo integration coming soon? It was mentioned in Jan and Feb that they would be among the first.
Thanks @twack, I apparently missed that model when I was checking the list. The reviews and prices on all of those cameras are pretty disappointing however. I also need a POE PTZ camera. They are a little harder to come by, but support for one would be great.
I also am wondering about @Bryan_Fleming’s question. Is the 4 camera limit permanent or will that be expanded? Can you actually have more cameras with a second HUB or is that wishful thinking?
Regards,
JD
A vote for the TENVIS IP ROBOT 3
had one of these for 6months (it was cheap / had good reviews and arrived and was perfect, would be good to integrate but then again im not fussy, ill happily buy other options if they are more likely to be integrated or already are as i need 3 more anyway
The PTZ functions are not controllable in this release. We’re working on it though.
Anyone have any experience with the MyFox security cameras? I like the idea of a lens cover that deploys when the camera is not in use. Seems like a good way to get coverage of the interior while limiting the “big brother” creepy factor for guests and house sitters. I would also be curious to hear if anyone has thoughts on this camera’s potential to be integrated with ST at some point in the future.
@dhsemp is right ubiquity is providing a RSTP feed from their NVR device currently. They have said that they plan to add RSTP service back directly from their cameras in a future firmware update.
Personally, I plan to use the Ubiquity NRV as my longterm video storage device and provide the RSTP video feed to SmartThings for notification purposes. I think (hope) this will accomplish my goals of video alerts based on ST events and longterm (local) storage as well. Even if ST charges me a small monthly fee to continue to receive video alerts in the future, I think it will be worth it to have the remote event based video clip backup.
Anyway, I guess we will have to see how this all shakes out after the beta.
The APIs are there, but they didn’t make it in yet. It’s on its way though!
I just found SmartThings while investigating how to get video monitoring on the exterior of my house. Didn’t like the hosted solutions like ADT, etc. So with that said, I am a complete noob to Z-Wave and home automation, very much in the learning curve right now.
There is something I was hoping @Tyler could clarify. In reading this, the supported cameras would not be affected by whether they are wi-fi or wired cameras? Not sure if the white list means these are Z-Wave compatible cameras and other wired IP cameras might work.
Also an observation. I am mostly interested in the near term with external (outdoor) monitoring. The outdoor cameras that are currently supported have limited use for outdoor monitoring due to their short night vision range. The currently supported cameras would not even reach the rear quarter panels of the vehicles in my driveway. I think that getting a supported camera that is capable of useable nightvision range would be important to support video monitoring applications in the real world. Based on what I have read here, it seems this is more about having the camera support the required APIs. I would hope that with SmartThings and SmartCam being under the same corporate umbrella, it would organizationally be a no-brainer to have Samsung bring the entire SmartCam line into SmartThings v2.
I currently have the HD Outdoor SmartCam installed on my home. The 50’ range is perfect, but… the camera is not very smart. The video capture and alerting in SmartThings v2 is more inline with what I am looking for.
After going through the list of newly supported Cameras, I decided on the the Dlink DCS-5029L. Still waiting on the V2 hub though to try out the video integration, but my opinion on the camera itself as followed:
NOTE - I’ve used several iOS cam apps to try and find the best phone/video cam experience.

Conclusion
3 out of 5 stars
Pretty gosh darn cool little camera. The camera looks pretty intimating actually. The gf and I named it Darth Vader due to its black shiny helmet like shroud. Not too happy about the price point though. I would most definitely give this camera a 5 out of 5 if a camera with this quality and user experience would come in at $60 - $70 dollar price point. If it wasn’t for needing to throw a camera in a vacation home asap, I personally would be holding off on camera integration. If you have the option of holding off, I would say wait until the ST supported list starts to populate with more options.
I’ll provide a camera/hub user experience update once the v2 hub arrives.
Hey, will ST support RSTP with authentication? I don’t want to open my cameras up to the Internet without authentication.
I just tried connecting my Dropcam to v2 hub for photo burst and I keep getting an error. I know the Dropcam isn’t supported for recording but is it no longer able to be used at all?
It sounds like there is no longer support for Dropcam on Hub V2 at all. Only the supported cameras listed above.
Boo! That’s terrible news as far as I’m concerned.
I thought there was no nest can support yet but Dropcam should stay the same? Just photos no video?
