I’ve paired three Yale YRD240 touch screen locks to my V2 Hub and the app doesn’t report battery status. See screen grab, is something wrong?
I don’t know if the Yale locks are like Schlages, but those took a day or so to show battery. You may want to log into the IDE, go into live logging and watch for errors. Specifically, I would press refresh in the app and see if it specifically triggers an error when you do that
my locks have been paired for a week. is this the IDE: https://graph.api.smartthings.com/
I don’t see any errors in “live logging” when refreshing lock status or locking or unlocking the doors.
Yes. That’s the IDE. Not sure why it wouldn’t report battery. There are some custom device handlers here in the forums that might help. Is it zigbee or z-wave?
My Kwikset 916 lock took about 7 days for the battery status to magically appear after I upgraded to V2 hub.
I’m not sure if the ST generic lock device driver is at fault for not requesting each time the refresh key is pressed or whether the lock firmware only sends this status information once in a blue moon.
The locks are Zwave. I replaced the batteries in one of the locks thinking that may force the lock to report.
My Kwikset took a really long time after the upgrade to show up - at least a week - and no amount of fiddling seemed to help. I just happened to notice it was back one day after taking a look at changes to the lock code manager
These are “sleepy” devices since they are battery powered. Unfortunately that means waiting for the device to report values. Every lock is different but if you wait out the reporting period the battery level will show up
What is the typical reporting period? I have two Kwikset locks and both are not reporting battery since I moved to Hub V2. I tried removing , adding etc…Paired them within 10 feet of the hub. Its has been weeks and I dont see battery status still. Do I need to do something else?
They may not report until the value changes in some cases. That’s probably whats going on in your case @ashutosh1982
Have (2) Kwikset 914. I went through all kinds of troubleshooting with the help from the support team. BTW…Kudos to Riley for putting up with my stubbornness to get these working!!! Nothing seemed that helped, though. Then about a week later, the battery level showed up suspiciously at 80% battery levels on both locks. It’s been a month or so since, and the front door has updated twice. Once to report 70% and a second time to report 60%. The backdoor (which we don’t use as often, is still at 80% and has not been updated since it first showed up). I am guessing that Kwikset may be set up to send battery updates at each 10% decrease?!
I replaced the batteries even, to force a change, but that didn’t even do it. It was frustrating, but it did eventually go.
After a few days of repetitive chanting, my lock’s battery level mysteriously showed up. I am confident that this worked in my situation. If you are desperate, definitely give this a try!
tomorrow morning will be two weeks and NO battery report…

I looked through my old posts and it looks like I noticed my battery status was back right around 2 weeks. Hopefully you’ll be the same.
Ha… Hang in there @RottenMutt, I’m confident that one of two things below will occur per the ST lock device logic for reporting battery level:
- The lock battery status will eventually be displayed in the ST tile when it decides it’s ready (same random logic of when a pregnant woman will go into labor)
- The lock will fail to lock/unlock indicating that the battery level of the lock is
below the manufacturers minimum functioning threshold…
I am recommending this additional programming logic code to the ST development team that should remove the added stress of new V2 users when their lock battery logic is missing:
if !Battery_Status_Reported_From_Lock {
def Battery_Level = Some_Random_Number_To_Make_User_Think_Their_Battery_Level_Is_OK
}

Anyone ever figure this out? I was hoping for more than just lock/unlock with the smartapp. In particular, battery life checks, where we can be notified when they get too low, would be incredible.
got battery status on one lock out of three!
