V2 Hub Migration and Cree Connected Bulbs

I am about out of my are of expertise. Tagging @JDRoberts as he will probably recall what solution, if any, is possible to deal with the “Power Company Power Meter Zigbee conflict” issue.

I do recall a thread a long time ago, where the user took his hub to his workplace, and managed to pair all of the devices there without issue. When he brought them home, they continued to work. Not a great long-term solution, but maybe something to help in the short-term?

Issues Connecting with Cree Connected Bulbs

All, Up until a couple of days ago I was ready to toss these bulbs in the trash (Really Just Return them) but after a nearly 2 hour phone call with Cree the engineer brought up a seemingly isolated oddity that’s related. In California the energy companies there have replace the analog power meters with digital AMI (Smart Meters) in particular a brand called iTron. Users of the Cree bulbs have reported pairing problems with their Smartthings Hubs and it turns out that those meters use the Zigbee protocol to communicate statistics back to the energy company. The RF signal is generated in an Omni-Directional manner so it has and does interfere with the communications of the Cree bulbs and I assume other Zigbee devices. The reset procedure can be difficult, but after 6-8 times through the on/off cycle with 3 seconds on then 3 seconds off it should dim down, then return to full brightness. It’s not really a true blink. Another potential issue is if your parents have a smart meter from the power company. Apparently several brands/types of smart meters use the same protocol (zigbee) and can cause enough interference that the bulbs won’t connect to ST.
