Trouble with Aqara RTCGQ11LM Motion Sensor

Interesting post Phil. Thanks for taking the time to reply. So I am not crazy, nothing is as good as it used to be. Everything these days seems disposable.

EDIT: Phil if the battery is in fact bad, it didnt even last 6 months.

Ok @AurElHA here we go: (EDIT: added links instead because the uploaded pictures were too small, pics are clickable now)

I think it used Yakov (YG??) by default

I think I need to use this one? I am not sure what the first Zigbee Motion Sensor is

Ok good, is using Yakov’s driver that should be fine but for some reason is not working, On ZigBee Motion Sensor MC de device was recently added by @Mariano_Colmenarejo so the driver is not tested yet, you can try to see if it works, if not you can let Mariano know and he will be glad to modify the driver to test, and the first ZigBee Motion Sensor you have is the Stock (official) Smartthings driver, but the Aqara Motion Sensor you have is not officially supported so it will not work with that one, what I suggest, change to ZigBee Motion Sensor MC driver and see if at least is back online, if not maybe an issue with the device.

Also take a look to battery Voltage and battery level, looks like last report (from yesterday at 9:49) showed 0V and 0% battery, so maybe is just time to replace your battery.

I will sneak in here if you don’t mind. I have a similar but somewhat different problem, as far as I can tell.
My Xiaomi motion sensor where working fine with Yakov’s driver, but they reverted to a think a few hours ago. None of my installed drivers is visible in the mobile app, and the web app gives me an “a valid fingerprint is missing” error when trying to revert to any other custom driver. What is a fingerprint, and how do I fix it?
P.S. The sensors are still connected but as things, there is not much I can do with them.

No problem - it’s a bit of a late night ramble but maybe it could help someone one day.

I’ve had devices where the battery was totally discharged within 2 months, and in one case it only lasted a week. To be fair, I have a lot of devices from both Aqara and Sonoff, and my “random” sample and anecdotal evidence of battery failure is unscientific, although is evidence based and true.

Having struggled in a similar way to you but also having become far more impatient and annoyed than you appear to be, changing the batteries is always the first thing I try now. (I’m assuming that you haven’t tried the second thing I always try, which is to test the device’s resilience to mechanical shock by throwing the faulty thing across the room) Even if it’s not that, I can always rely on a solution through the community - especially since the Reddit for smartthings went offline recently in bizarre circumstances. And even if my issue doesn’t get fixed, I get to learn a bit more about how to stay calm from people such as yourself when I’m confronted with similar frustrating issues!!

Just to confirm that I have some GQ11 like the OP, also some of the newer improved versions (labelled P1) that has GQ14 in the model number. I’ve tried then now and confirm that both are still operating as expected with the driver that was recommended earlier (see pic). I do however find it very worrying when people are reporting that weird and unusual things happen as though it is commonplace and normal (like the device suddenly changing to a Thing above) and we have all got used to waking up and being confronted with a firmware update that broke everything / app update that removed a useful feature / previous device compatibility suddenly being rendered incompatible… The list is endless! It doesn’t instill me with confidence for ST lasting the distance…

Literally the first result in a search

Literally didnt come up when I searched. But I guess you expect me to read your mind and know what to search for. Thanks.

LOL. I have wanted to do this many of times. And I may seem calm but nothing infuriates me more than stuff that has one works one day and not the next for absolutely no reason. Man, that is so infuriating. I appreciate the kind words though, thank you.

Thank you Jose, you have been super helpful sir! I’ve got a battery on order and will test that and see if that is the problem. If it is, that means the device wouldn’t have even lasted 6 months. I will report back with the results.
Thanks again @AurElHA , I really appreciate all your help!!

Hello Aureliano, took me a bit but I got a new battery and it seems to be working (for now). I still don’t see a battery level. I am using zigbee Sensor Edge Driver YG 1.8.16

Any ideas why I am not seeing the battery level?

Great!, battery level take a little while to be shown on the interface, just be patient, could be a couple of hours but sometimes takes a little bit longer.

:+1: :+1:

Thank you. I’ll check it again in a little while then.

I am trying to connect my aqara motion sensor to YG edge driver but searching for devices pulls up nothing. Did you do the trick where you keep the devices from sleeping or you only pushed the button for 3 seconds and that was it?

Man to be honest only with the 3 seconds press was enough to me, what device are you trying to add? Do you have a model number?

My model number is RTCGQ11LM
