Smart-homer somewhere in North London. Love gadgets and general IoT stuff - used to do a lot of electronics, but haven’t got the old soldering iron out for Zigbee yet.

By trade I’m a software engineering consultant, been in software development for 20 years now. I used to write code, but now little of it remains and most of it has either been deleted or refactored down to a single character. My job now is to tell younger engineers what code to write, and if they do it wrong I delete it (Just kidding, of course)

I do Java, Kotlin, Javascript, Typescript, C# / dotnet core, GoLang, Python. Also plenty of T-SQL and a little of Oracle’s attempt at SQL. I also do solutions architecture in most clouds like AWS, Azure and GCP. I can create a mean Jenkins pipeline and I’m pretty clued up on the nitty-gritty of DevOps. That might include Docker, Kubenetes, and so on.

As a kid in the 1980’s I did the dreaded BBC Basic and also learnt to code 6502 assembler. I still remember exactly what the instruction LDA #&80 does. Unfortunately my brain is now full and until I get rid of that information, I can’t learn any more. FIFO.

Thanks for reading one of my shorter intros.
