Last week I learned a new ST lesson, that no matter how many backups you have, ST finds a way to fail them all, sooner or later (well, one failure was on me). So to turn my lights on at sunset, I have:
Rule Machine rule to turn on lights based on sun state - this one failed due to scheduler
IFTTT with virtual switch - as first back up - this one failed because IFTTT chanel was down
Rule Machine rule based on lux level -as second backup - this one failed because I forgot to change the batteries on my sensor
Sooo, Iāve added another: created a routine based on sun state. If all fail, at least I can have a button in the app (routine) to push to turn my lights on!
Itās a complete mess today for some reason. My devices werenāt reporting correctly in the app, I had to reboot the hub, and even after all of that, everything was hit or miss for about an hour where even my local devices (that are registered locally and execute commands locally and not through the cloud) were acting crazy. Then things started to come back and for now things seem to be OK but this is just crazy. I had to edit/rebuild all of my routines so they werenāt showing the next scheduled event in the pastā¦ this programming bug is just crazy to me. Why donāt they just flush these lingering ānext eventā routines after 10min or something instead of just letting them sit there forever. Hell, I had routines that still would work occasionally when they were supposed to but they were showing as not having run in almost a week. I just donāt get it.
Complete mess here also. I went in the IDE to look at the scheduled event and discovered that most were scheduled in the past. So I went and edited (AGAIN!) all of my time based routine to force them to reschedule correctly. What is weird is that some of them were showing the correct time, letās say 10 PM, in the first screen but when accessing the screen to edit the hour of execution, there it showed 1 hour earlier (9 PM in my example).
Two days in a row now and all my routines are scheduled properly. Soā¦
I got to askā¦ Why is this problem so inconsistent? Why do some people have a ācomplete messā and others are just fine? Give it 24 hours and the situation is likely to be reversed. I dont get it
Same here, things are much, much better in the past few days. It baffles me why some of us suffer the problem while other donāt. Perhaps it is dependent on what servers people are assigned? Seems like every time a platform upgrade happens people may get shuffled around. Who knows? But for as long as it has been going on they sure donāt seem to have a REAL fix anytime soon.
I hear ya and after going through with reboots and editing all of my routines again like Kalto states; at least this morning things seemed to be working properly. I donāt get too excited when things start working again until it āsticksā for a whileā¦ only time will tell. I just hate how it works for a while then goes to hell and then starts all over again.
Well, I havenāt noticed any recent failures until today. My Gentle Wake Up light never ran this morning and my app that turns off my home theater system after an hour and a half of inactivity never fired. I woke up and my plasma TV and Xbox 360 had been on all night.
Recently, I have been getting failures of a different sort. According to the log, the scheduled routine triggers on time, reschedules the routine for the next day but it never actually turns on the devices. In one case I actually had to delete and recreate the routine before the devices turned on again.

Agreedā¦the past 4 days have been working like they should. I was out of town last week and really hated that I didnāt have confidence in the status of my devices. I donāt want a system that I canāt rely on. But, the last few days, things are actually working great. Maybe theyāve found discovered the issue.
Every day some piece of this system is brokenā¦ POC canāt even get a simple command right, Turn off lights at 12:36. Using Smart lights to do it. turns of one light or the other when it does turn them off. App has gotten extremely slow and crashes more then ever. But hey the did solve the red banner warning. Wow
So when that happened to me, I logged into the IDE and realized that the failing events had the next scheduled event set to the pastā¦ so they were never going to actually execute. I was told to go into each routine all of the way to the end and then click āDoneā to back your way out of each routine (routines that have schedules that are failing for you). This āresetsā them and should solve the issue. I have had to do this numerous times over the past few months to address these issues but one thing I will say is after last weeks update, it seems to have āstuckā so far and things are still working normally since then. Give it a shot again and see if that helps.
