Once I did my “cleanup” I am rock solid across 130 devices (migrating all rules to Smart Lighting or Rule Machine). You would be surprised where you have a few conflicts here and there over time too…they sneak up on you!
I’m in the process of a complete programming overhaul. I am re implementing modes into my system. But, I am not using the ST routines, I am using rule machine to create my routines and to change my modes.
So far I’ve found that having an independent rule that only changes the modes has worked best. I then have the RM routines fire from the mode setting. Also, the RM routines are rules, not triggered.
I’ve been trying several different methods if doing this and I think I’ve finally gotten it the way I want it. But with six modes (so far) it’s created a lot of craziness in the programming.
So I’m pretty sure my lights messing up was because of my own doing.
I’ll be posting a detailed thread this evening about this experiment I’m doing.
First time based schedule failed for me today since the upgrade.
I’ve had many scheduling failures over the past ~24 hours
after a week or so of reasonably good stability.
Still some proper software engineering work needed to be done here!
My good morning routine failed here as well.
Seems to be par for the course after a platform update.
My WIfe’s gentle wake up fired but didn’t gradually increase the lights. That was at 5:58am. Mine fired just fine and gradually lit up my lights at 8:37am. I could see it in the logs. My WAF is high, she likes the automation, but is not happy when things like alarms don’t work. I would switch to a V2 hub but from what I’m reading it doesn’t look like it will solve these problems.
Yeah… Mine is set to take 10 minutes… this morning took 7 sets of 10
All I ask is that things happenn when I want them to. Is that to much?
I use to different sets of Gentle Wakeup for evening and morning automations. For the past couple of days both are failing. They will just eother quit in the middle or stall for an amount of time and then continue and then fail. I have a ticket in with support.
Both of mine started this morning. I pressed the cancel switch on my wife’s shortly after it started but mine did complete. I still often wonder why some work one day and not the next.
I saw Bruce mention “Update” in IDE to catch up scheduled apps. Is that thing new??
Edit: Oops, found the thread about it.
After I discovered that I need to use set-times that are off peak for SmartThings, I had 48 consecutive hours without a fail. I thought I was on the right track. But then I come home to find that the sunset rule failed. Unfortunately, there’s no way to schedule my sunset rules for off-peak times.
I too had a few days of solid timed events but I am also right back to frequent failures. Even simple things like turning off lights after 2 minutes fails nearly 40% of the time. Very frustrating.
Same thing with my 2 hubs. It’s been great until the last several days- now 2 lights, each in a different hub aren’t going off as scheduled. Tried removing and reinstalling, and “repair”- still have the intermittent problem
I presume all scheduling failures are nothing but a figment of our imagination, since All Systems Operational acoording to http://status.smartthings.com
I’d like to add a “Me, too” to this thread. For the past several days my scheduled events aren’t working, specifically when centered around sunrise/sunset times. I’ve opened a support ticket.
I’d like to know HOW the http://status.smartthings.com status page is updated and an “investigating” email is sent. My support tickets aren’t answered for 2-3 days after submitting them. At what point do they consider a system not operating nominally before updating the page and firing an “investigating” email?
Yeah, smartthings status is great! So informative!
No but really. Its been an issue, but its a “minor” issue for me. I am a little confused by it, affects everyone from smart apps to routines.
Wow! It’s actually gotten even worse for me…now 4 different scheduled events didn’t take place( lights on) with 2 different hubs. It was 2 yesterday.
It had been a minor issue for me too. Now it’s a major issue. I have found workarounds for polling type jobs, but for anything that I really want to happen at a particular time - it’s a work in progress.
I need some kind of other night night mode routine trigger, but i dont think i like the reliability of motion sensors for it, and time based isnt working. I’m thinking the coolest implementation would be a weight sensor for the bed. (Amazing concept right???)
