Really? Previously I’d heard it was 200. 1000 is quite a leap.
Reassuring if true as I’d gone well over 100 without much effort and was thinking i had limited headroom
So I understand there’s a new smart lighting app available and it only appears after you create it by going here
So this leaves 2 smart lighting apps now.
I’m still running the old smart lighting app. Do these move over to the new one or do the 2 of them run now.
For me, after selecting and adding it, the new Smart lighting is empty/invisible (the shortcut doesn’t even show on the screen next to the original Smart Lighting). I only know it’s there because if I now select add/routine/discover/‘Label’ I get an empty template for adding a new lighting routine.
It’s true, it was changed from 200 to 1,000 recently. A staff member mentioned it in the forum.
It should show up after you’ve added your first smart lighting rule. Definitely confusing.
As soon as you create an automation it then shows up next the the ‘old’ smartlighting
ST will migrate the older version rules to the new version automatically. After that happens, the older version will be removed.
I’m in Poland and Smart Lighting (new app) works fine… I had to find it and add it from the automation tab manually, but it works fine. (Automations -->> + -->> Create Routine -->> Discover (tab at the bottom) -->> scroll to the bottom and select “Smart lighting”
Sure, I tried this already, and there is nothing to be found under discover
They’re just blocking it in Norway.
First reply from UK support was very promising, let’s see if they can help me getting it installed
btw. I never even had the old Smart Lightning neither
Lucky you - no such option here in Malta.
Respectfully, I’m not sure how arbitrary region restrictions on SmartThings software features will be worked around by Matter.
But I agree - consumers in those regions don’t even know that SmartThings has software locked out from them before they buy it and try to use it.
Smartthings smart lock guest access is not working. It disappeared from my favorites so I tried to re down load it from life tab and it will not open, just error message problem try again later.
It was there yesterday.
And after nine years of SmartThings running my house, I finally moved the final device over to Hubitat this morning. Everything is so much faster and easier to manage on Hubitat. And… no more listening to the Samsung gaslighting as they make SmartThings less and less usable for pure home automation. See ya, wouldn’t want to be ya!
Why even come and post this? Just go quietly into the night.
Whatever.
The grass is always greener …
Wow, nine years, the end of an era! Looking back at your post history it looks like you’ve been a really involved member of the community - thanks for all your contributions.
Thanks also for sharing your experiences to-date with Hubitat - I’m sure they’re are many in the community who are contemplating a similar move, or are considering running Hubitat alongside SmartThings as a solution to some of the recent breaking changes, so it’s helpful to hear you’ve found it an easy transition.
I’m sorry to see how combative and defensive the other responses to your post have been. I thought the whole point of Matter was to break down walls and silos in the smart home space, but it seems that many people are still dealing with the sunk cost fallacy that comes with having dedicated years to a particular platform and not being able to see that it doesn’t offer a perfect set of solutions for everybody.
Good luck with Hubitat, and do please share any further experiences on this forum - there will be many including me who will find your input helpful.
I don’t feel that it is combative or defensive. I’m just growing tired of post about I’m leaving for XYZ. Last I checked this was a support forum for SmartThings not a place to leave a dear John letter.
Posting about leaving the platform would be like me going in and starting up a support thread in here about JavaScript or CSS. It has nothing to do with this.
