@Taryn Brice-Rowland Thanks! I tried your suggestion and it works so far.
@Twack I used your code un-altered to create a new device type called “Dim With Me” then created a new Device called “Virtual Master” and assigned its Type to the DIM With Me Device Type. I also set up your Dim With Me App and that allowed me to select the Virtual Master and have it control whatever lights and switches I selected. In the properties page for the Virtual Master I was able to get the slider working to control my Hue lights but the Level Up, Level Down and On/Off buttons did not work.
I don’t care too much about the Level Up and Level Down buttons but I’d really like to get the On/Off button working so I can control it from both the properties page and the device tile on the main Things page. Any ideas on why the On/Off button doesn’t work?
If you have changed the hue code, please email it to me twack …,… @ …,… wackware .,… net. And while you’re at it, you could send me a hue light kit too <JK>
Seriously, let me know what hue code you’re using and I’ll see if I can figure it out.
Twack
P.S WackWare will be closed on Sunday afternoon and evening to watch the SUPER BOWL!
(and the commercials)
I borrowed Hue lights from my work. Didn’t think I’d like them as much as I do. The ST implementation is very basic right now. I’d like to see it support Scenes from the Hue app.
I installed the Hue Connect app from Labs and that’s the code I’m using. Nothing custom.
Enjoy the Super Bowl (and the commercials). I don’t have regular TV so I’ll have to find a place to watch it.
I have the same question also. I have 5 Wemo switches that ST can’t control. Bought a couple more today. BTW Staples has a sale of 20% off anything you can fit in a bag, Wemo included.
Any updates on when the Wemo will be updated with some fixes?
ST has lots of trouble keeping sync with the state of the switch (doesn’t know when it’s turned off based on other events, need to refresh it from Things tile).
When these updates roll out, how do we get access to them? I’m assuming it’s a hub upgrade manually via ST tech support?
Would like to see this integrated in the dashboard. In other words, include it in “More options” in the notify section of alerts if you have a Sonos device.
A repeat count option for alarm situations is desired. For example repeat 3 times or report forever until turned off.
Would like to use my own audio files.
Should be able override mute.
Use room instead of device. Otherwise, it is awkward when you have a surround sound setup of Playbar, sub woofer, and two rear speakers.
Be able to group all rooms so an alarm can more easily set up.
Many people included myself have asked this question and ST staff will not reply. They no longer advertise Wemo on there main site. Looks to me like they have discontinued Wemo support and that’s what I bought it for. I have 5 switches I can’t use with ST. Those of use who purchased for Wemo may be screwed.
My Wemo motion stopped returning the proper status weeks ago after working fine for a month with no changes, removed the wemo connect app, added the app and discovered the motion sensor again… still doesn’t work.
WeMo motion sensors have not worked for a long time. They seem to work at first but then fall asleep after an hour or so of no motion and need to be woken up only to fall asleep again. I gave up and purchased Z-wave sensors to replace the 2 WeMo motion sensors I have where I really need them to function reliably. My WeMo switches are still working fine for scheduled events but they have trouble updating in the app UI if you control them manually from the Things or Dashboard pages.
Hopefully they will fix all this. Other hubs like Revolve seemed to have gotten it working so I think it’s only a matter of time before ST does. I was told by support that it would be “a while” until WeMo was out of Labs and released as a fully integrated product. Labs is really beta stuff so you can’t expect it to work perfectly like Z-wave and ZigBee.
In the mean time, I could use my WeMo sensors via IFTTT or just use them with the WeMo app to control the WeMo switches. For now they are just collecting dust.
FWIW I started the whole “smart home” craziness by buying some Wemo stuff on Amazon. After a few weeks of it working sporadically at best I returned it all to Amazon. Best decision I ever made. Perhaps the fact its largely junk is the reason ST will not support it?
You must have had wifi problems. I have 14 Wemo items working for over 4 months with no problems. I like them much better than the zwave. With Wemo i have two options, I can use there app when ST is having server problems. In fact there wemo app is much easier to use. I have it set up so all my wife has to do is press a picture of the light to cut it on. In fact if I use my Sonos speakers or Hue lights I use their apps not ST. When I bought my ST they advertised a unit that intergrated different things. If you look at the works with list it only has zwave and zigbee. Also Revolv must not think wemo is junk, they have it working in their system
