SmartThings-compatible Door Knobs?

Are there any smart door knobs on the market that integrate with SmartThings?

I am looking for a smart door knob with a latch bolt (deadlatch). I am not looking for a smart deadbolt lock and am not looking for a lever handle lock.

There are many products from no-name companies on Amazon in the $30-80 range that are door knobs with keypads, fingerprint readers, and proprietary app support (looks like Bluetooth). THORBOLT also manufactures an MK1 Smart Doorknob that supports “Apple [HomeKit] over Thread”, but I asked THORBOLT and they said they only support Apple HomeKit, not Matter over Thread, and there are no plans to do so.

I looked for Zigbee and Z-Wave door knobs but have not found anything yet.

Tuya makes some Bluetooth smart knobs which are sold under many different brand names. They communicate with a tuya WiFi bridge, but I don’t believe they are exposed to SmartThings at this time.

Thank you. While partially disappointing, I appreciate you mentioning that a Tuya Wi-Fi bridge exists for these products.

I bought a couple of these Bluetooth smart knobs and a couple of Tuya smart lock Wi-Fi bridges (under different brand names) to test them out.

Until a Matter-over-Thread knob comes out, I guess I will stick with these low-cost, hopefully functional alternatives and just live with using a separate app for the time being.

If the firmware in the knobs allows you to create Tap-to-Run (scenes) Automations in the Tuya/SmartLife App to lock and unlock the knobs these Automations will get imported into SmartThings if you link the accounts.

If have a Tuya WiFi deadbolt lock and the firmware does NOT allow the creation of lock or unlock Tap-to-Run Automations.

I got a GHome Smart Fingerprint Door Lock, and found out that it is a rebranded Tuya K10 Pro. I also got a generic Tuya Wi-Fi/Bluetooth gateway.

The lock works with Smart Life over Bluetooth and is paired with the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth gateway. I see that there are Smart Scenes in the app. However, before I get that far, when I try to unlock the door remotely out of range of Bluetooth I get an error message: “Password is not ready”. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I also ordered a Yamiry YR05 smart doorknob lock, plus the Yamiry gateway which uses the Nice Digi app. The Nice Digi app does not advertise any SmartThings integration, but the product description says “Yamiry WiFi Gateway Control by Nice DiGi App,Tuya and Smart life App” so I am hoping that eventually if this remote connection issue is solved, I should be able to get it into SmartThings via Smart Life.

Sounds like you need to use a password when opening via Wi-Fi.

No, that was not quite it. I managed to find a YouTube video that suggested that if that error occurred, to delete the device, wipe the cache, and try to add the device again. I did that and now it is working. Specifically, I disabled Bluetooth on my phone (to ensure the only way to reach the door knob was via the WiFi/Bluetooth gateway), removed the device, and then went to the gateway device and tried to add the knob to the gateway by searching for nearby devices. Now the knob is paired to the WiFi/Bluetooth gateway and it is working for remote access!

I created two Tap-To-Run scenes in Smart Life for the doorknob: one is Manual Lock: On and one is Manual Lock: Off.

I tried to pair the Smart Life account with SmartThings, and I hit a wall. I get an error message in SmartThings that I cannot proceed. “Couldn’t add device: A network or server error occurred. Try again later.” I did this several times but the error persists.

Any suggestions?

If you used the SmartLife integration try the Tuya integration and see if it is any better. You do NOT need to change the app to use the Tuya integration. You can use the SmartLife app with the Tuya integration and the Tuya app with the SmartLife integration.

Thank you: the Tuya integration worked.

I can now see the scenes as devices in SmartThings. I created a scene to set Manual Lock: On and a scene to set Manual Lock: Off. However, they don’t actually unlock the doorknob. The lock beeps but does not change locked state. Any ideas or suggestions?

Do the Tap-to-Run Automations work when activated in the Tuya/SmartLife app? Or is it only a problem when activated from SmartThings?

They didn’t work when I activated them in the Smart Life app.

now it may be that the command “manual lock: on/off” does not do what I intend to do, namely, to unlock the doorknob on command. The only other things worth saying are that there is a setting for the doorknob that says “Remote Lock” that is currently set to On, and, I have reason to believe that you can automate this family of doorknobs with Home Assistant (although I don’t know how since I don’t use HA at all).

My Tuya WiFi lock shows up in Home Assistant but I can not be operated it from Home Assistant. The status of the lock of the does update n Home Assistant.

Alexa is the only Integration the allows me to lock and unlock the lock.

That’s disappointing.

I wonder what makes Alexa different from the other integrations?

In conclusion (for now): there is no SmartThings-integrated smart doorknob on the market, where SmartThings can a) view the lock status, b) lock and unlock the knob remotely, and c) administer the doorknob in any way (add or remove codes, for example). I could take just b) but there is no option with b) currently available.
