Smartthings app can not detect fridge

I have the SmartThings app on my iphone. It’s been deleted and reinstalled a couple of times – that doesn’t help it connect to my Family Hub 4 door fridge.
The app connected just fine to my Frame TV.
I shut off and restarted the fridge at the breaker.
The internet on the fridge works, so I know that the fridge is connected to my wifi network.
My wifi Iphone settings show the fridge network but will not connect with it. I follow the Samsung instructions exactly, use the correct PW but it never connects. I get a No Internet Connection message in the iphone wifi settings underneath the field that says [refrigerator] Samsung (LCD). Tried everything numerous times.
My wifi router is connected to a google nest hub, but I might get rid of that and go to the Spectrum router if that would help

see if this helps:

How are you trying to add it? IIRC, you have to initiate the connection from the FH and not try to scan for it from the ST app.

I did initiate the connection from the FH.
However, I just found this buried in the specs:
If your Internet service provider has registered the MAC address of your PC or modem
for identification, your Samsung Smart Refrigerator may fail to connect to the Internet.
If this happens, contact your Internet service provider for technical assistance.
So I will work on this angle next.
