I have been spending the past two weeks sitting back, reading and building up my automated home. My husband thinks I have lost my mind. It all started with a robot vacuum. lol
I bought a Harmony Ultimate One with the intent that it would work with GH. Not realizing I needed the hub. Figured that out… Off to Best Buy. Purchased Harmony hub with another remote. The remote was only $20 more. Spent all day upgrading the Ultimate One to an Ultimate… (Talk about a nightmare) and the remote that came with the hub. Everything working just as I wanted from the remote perspective. Started at 1:00 and finished around 6pm. Yes, 5 hours for just remotes.
After Dinner… the real challenge began. Connecting ST to Harmony hub. Able to sign into the account but couldn’t find the hub. Searched the web for answers. Tried everything to get ST to find the hub. Around 9pm I gave up. Went to bed.
Woke up this morning and said… well, at least try IFTTT. Used an already created app to create an action to turn it all on. It worked. Couldn’t find an app to turn off, attempted to create. Nope. IFTTT failed. “Something went wrong” Then it hit me…
On the Harmony site I saw a post that said the hub would only support 2 remotes. 1 touch screen and one non touch screen. Could it be that Harmony sees other connections as a “remote” and it is only able to support two physical connections?
I removed the $20 remote (2 hours of work lost) and tried to connect ST to Harmony. Low and behold, ST found the hub…
Posting for those that are battling with the same things as I didn’t find this as a solution anywhere else. Are there any other rabbit holes that anyone else has ran into while attempting this? I don’t want to loose any more of my cherished time off…
