Smart Power Management of SmartThings Hub or other SmartHome Hubs

If you have ever wondered how to turn the SmartThings hub on/off remotely, that’s exactly what this post is about. The solution comprises 2 components

  1. A switch that is capable of remote management (without SmartThings).
  2. Not use the SmartThings hub’s inbuilt battery backup (as otherwise, even if you turn the above switch off to cut the power, the batteries installed in the hub will provider power to it). The battery backup has to be outside the hub.
